If i fly a raven into a shuttle i bounce back even when the shuttle is still. Should the mass of the raven not be so great that the shuttle gets pushed outa the way and the raven only loses a couple of m/s. mabe im wrong if i am please say so

I *Think* (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that what happens is that the pilots are simply trying to evade eachother (or, at least thats what ive always thought it was, again corrct me if I'm wrong)

still with that surly the mass would still be in effect...
shuttle - small light ship Battleship - Big heavy cumbersome thing
so surely the shuttle should be the one to move still..
I mean you don't go out on a bike goto hit a lorry and expect the lorry to move out of the way do you??

yup the larger vessle has the right of way....
im mean the larger vessle should by all right smash the smaller vessle to bits
but i think ccp have you bounce off each other insted of destroying said vessle/s or it be a short ride out of the-
space staions oops hit a battle ship my ship goes boom!

well tbh im sure space physics work different but i doubt this should happen. im sure CCP could make a slopy inaccurate physics script to make big ships send little ships flying im saying slopy and inaccurate because it doesnt need to be accurate it could be a simple as BS size ship hits frigate size ship.....little math.....frigate moves to XXXm/s in the direction the bs was going, this way there is little or no terjectery analisys. or if ccp wanted to be really cool they could bring in an impact skill that would allow you to send ships spinning when you hit them at a certin speed which would knock out there sencors. (yea right to complicated) but really funny, imagin the vids

Mass v Mass, they seem to manage mass v propulsion to keep big ships slower so why not? It would totally destroy the tactic of bumping when you're in a frig trying to stop an indy going into warp. You could never hope to get them out of alignment.

well guys ill start by saying tnx for replying coz my last 2 posts droped like lead weights. Ok the last comment in my last post was a joke but after thiking about it, it does seem to make sence. im still waiting for a reply on the ship's spinning as a result of high raming skill. honestly i think this feature should be imployed on te test server for at least a month as i wounld like to see what happens in differend seneros. but im sure te ccp team could figure out if this feature will fit with te rest of eve i.e it wouldn't provide an unfair advntage.
and pleade excuse te typos im typing from my felo corp m8s laptop and i cant use this dam key board

Since friction from gravity and other forces such as atmospheric pressure remove inertia in weighted environments, objects of differing mass have a substantially different effect on each other than in deepspace.
If one removes the friction of gravity and atmosphere, and one has two objects, say a baseball and a bowling ball; if the baseball hits the bowling ball with a force, the bowling ball will tumble similarly to the baseball with very little inertial loss due to the lack of friction. So, the baseball would move the bowling ball at the same rate as the bowling ball would move the baseball, the only difference really is how much inertia can be transmitted from the baseball to the bowling ball so if the bowling ball hits the baseball, it has the same contact area and causes the same inertial transfer.
The only issue one would have to deal with is that of gravity, and the difference in mass would need to be extraordinarily great for one object to actually cause another object to move towards it at a faster rate.
So basically, small ship or big ship, they hit with whatever energy they have on the same contact point, if either ship hits the other, they will absorb eachothers inertia and change direction based on that. There would be the friction of the two bodies, but it would be equal, and both ships would be damaged an equal amount as they both bounced off eachother.
In your statement
"If i fly a raven into a shuttle i bounce back even when the shuttle is still"
That should not happen, both the raven and the shuttle should move as both objects have lost or gained inertia.
thems my 2isk, hope that makes sense

err........ TMI thats goin a little deep this is a game frictional forces and all that will never apply same as the another topic that i suggested when some guy repliesd saing that it would require sine and cosine waves. KEEP IT SIMPLE should be the CCP moto (yea i no eve if far from simple) i love realism and i wil keep posting till i get my fill as i have seen a few thing's that i have posted or mabe re-posted that are now in development.
ok to respond to what you said, frictional forces,, gravity, and atmospheric pressue[were in space] forget bout all of this as its too complicated to calculat instead lets try ship "A" traveling at 100m/s hits ship "B" traveling at 0M/s . ship A is moving in diretion X=100 Y=100 Z=1 so ship B being extremly smal will move in directio X=100 Y=100 Z=1 at speed 90m/s gotta go sry no time to finish need more drink
