CCP has done amazing things with this game, allowing 3x as many people in the same universe as any other game. They have patched the game and added content without stop, and added major updates for free.
They then try to add even more content, and screw up in the slightest bit, and loads of people complain like it's the end of the damn world! Shutup people, do you even realize the difficulty of programming and networking this size of an environment?
Just have patience. And give CCP some credit.

I'd figure the difficulty should be < the monthly income from 106,000 accounts. It's called a "business". They supply some sort of service and are reimbursed with RL money. If they do things right they have a net profit. If they do things wrong and the provided service is inturrupted, any customer has a right to be upset. Go sit down and quit the fanboy routine.

It's the same thing with every MMO. The *minority* flame the forums with complaints, while the *majority* are understanding and tolerant enough to let a team do their jobs. Like I always say, in every MMO, during every "crisis"... if you're unhappy, leave. Nothing keeps you here. It's a game. It's not like you're being forced to pay for this product. It's by your choice that you pay, therefore the complaint is on you. The rest of us are happy with what we're getting, except for one thing: your complaints. These people never post anything constructive. Sorry, they might try at first, but in the end they give up. They feel the only way a company will understand is by flame and fire. What they don't understand is that good attention is rewarded, and bad attention is punished.

I think they'd love to hire you on to do their marketing.

As I said before, for those claiming that they're paying for a service they can't use...
So far, this has been going on for three days. My calculations tell me that one day is roughly US$0.50 of the monthly service fee paid. That's roughly US$1.50 "lost". Although, I could still connect and play... I think overall, I've had to wait three hours out of the last three days. That's roughly $0.02 an hour... so that makes for a total of $0.06 out of that total service fee.
Doing the math is fun... it also takes your mind off of the hard work the GM team is doing.

It's a new brand of marketing: Common Sense.

If a person is able to play every day, sure it's not as big an impact. But if the only time you can play is weekends, refigure your math and adapt the perspectve.

I, for one, don't have a problem at all with the fact that there is occasionally a glitch with a new cluster launch or a problem with a patch, etc. EvE Online is an achievement in the game industry without compare. The shear logistics and engineering to make it all work rivals the most sophisticated military computer systems on the planet...ok, perhaps I exaggerate, but not by much. Add to that the constant influx of new content and I can't comprehend why someone could think they aren't getting their money's worth. If they understood what was involved with creating such a game, they would apologise for their selfish b****ing and complaining. Patience is, indeed, a virtue. I hold CCP in the highest esteem and they will continue to receive my praise, even after every frustrating crash of their servers. Rock on, CCP!

Agreed 100%.
I bet not a single person here can't say they've never had a problem with their computer where nothing worked right for a couple days. It's the same with CCP. They are dealing with computers after all only on a bigger scale. Nothing can work 100% efficiently 100% of the time.
Relax people. Go watch a movie, I suggest Ultra-Violet. It looks pretty good. Go outside. Spend some time with your kids or with your girl-friends/wives. Do something else. There IS a life outside EVE. You don't die if it's gone for a day.

I've been playing the battlefield series since it came out. Awesome game, but you're lucky to get a patch once 6 months for issues that are glaring and massively hinder gameplay. Now, I understand I'm not paying a monthly fee, but the frequency of patching and attention to problems is refreshing.
Besides that, problems happen. It's software/hardware. These things don't always have warning, and they have to be dealt with right away. So as it was suggested, chill out. You don't have to go outside (I avoid the outside world like the plauge.) There's plenty of fun websites to visit, movies to download and watch, and forums like this to visit!

so out of every one telling people to shut up & defending ccp in this situation, how many of you are being kicked off and cannot get in for 1/2 hour or so and then being kicked off again ????
If you are one of these people. Go play in buggy space for several hours and then reappraise your opinion of this situation.
I joined this game 5 days ago.
The game is great. Unfortunately I am in one of the more affected areas. i get 1/2 - 3/4 hour game time then get kicked / lagged out. Being married with children, i donĘt have huge amounts of time that I can allocate to a game so my game time is a little precious to me. I feel very frustrated with the feedback to their costumers. There doesnĘt seam to be a status thread that gets updated frequently. (if I have missed it being new and all. Please point it out tome)
I have the standard (beginner) ship that i can use (havenĘt got money yet for good one), and at this rate I will not ever.
I am not attacking the people who are in the programming / fixing area as I am sure they are doing their best, but the people managing the game should get their **** together.
This service is ****ing me off.
Signed. aggrieved user......

I've had my laptops MBR become corrupt and while it only took me about 30 minutes to correct the problem (had to actually get an XP cd to fix it), I've also had worse days. People just don't want to accept the fact that not everything is perfect, and they need to learn to adapt or go away.

To all the whiners whining about the whiners, ask yourself two questions : Are the changes to the game (drone tweaks that arent working yet, travel advisory system that seems to have extended travel times etc) and the new bloodline features actually worth this amount of hassle ? Would it not have been better to spread the changes out more, and at the very least separate the content patching from the hardware change by a few more weeks / months ?
To all the whiners whining, if you are really that unhappy why not go and do something else ? Not a flame as such, just a helpful suggestion. There are many lag free areas in the game so stop clutching the choked up highways and get out and live a bit. Of course, you could always do something with your families (remember them ? they are the "other people" that live in your house).
Seriously though, CCP have made the game a victim of trying to bring in too much at once IMO. I am sure that just like Castor (shivver) once we are 2-3 bug patches down the line noone will remember this time.
It would be nice to see a little less pointless ranting and pointless ass-kissing - from both sides.
