Hello!
I have played EVE few years ago. Stopped and now playing again. It's fun to see how many things changed.
I started with exploration again, but have some problem in 0.0 space. I don't know how should I defend agains cloaked ships.
I scan in Helios. When I am in site I check local, set up directional scan to see probes and/or ships aproaching my position. Scanning every few seconds. Its no problem. Normally I can escape before any ships warp in and target me, but what to do agains CLOAKED ships, that know site position BEFORE I get there and they are waiting for me there or warp in in cloak?
I podded few times already because of that.
Last time bomber shown up and locked me almost instantly. I was align to something, but didn't have any chance to warp out before he locked me. I tried with different setup, to speed up my warp time, but did not see any results...
Do you have any ideas how to protect myself against such actions?

the only way to protect yourself from stealth bombers is to stay cloaked at a safe. if you see a suspicious guy in local, either chat him up and see if you can make a new friend or research his killboard to see if he is a threat (or both).
of course, you could also explore in a nullified T3 with its low slots full of warp core stabilizers but i don't think it's worth the investment.

Yeah, of course. Cloak is good protection, but I cannot be cloaked while hacking. ;)
So..there is no defence against such ships I see... |

if he has the site pre-scanned and is waiting, there's nothing you can do. You can't see if he's afk or not, you can't know if he has the site probed, nothing.
In my experience someone pre-scanning the site to take you down is pretty rare, so I usually don't care if there's a few people in local.

This is player reaction to changes made to exploration.
Reading about how a bomber killed you i would assume you were in a frigate doing a relic/data site. The changes that CCP made to profession sites (namely no rats in kspace. You can run those in scanning frigs) and the following influx of explorers made people that like to hunt turn their attention there.
You can kill bombers that are set up to gank explorers in a proper fit t1 scanning frig (drones!). Just do the hacking until they decloak on you.
Now protecting against people having scanned the sites prior to you is obviousely harder. Turn to quieter areas maybe? Learn the locals also always is good. |

Fly something that doesn't instantly die to bombers. Pretty much anything BC-sized or above (and many cruisers) can just instapop any bomber that decloaks near them. Or fit a cloak yourself and just cloak and warp off when you see someone decloak near you.
As others have mentioned, do some research on people you see in local. If you see someone with a load of exploration frigate kills in their bomber, it's a good chance they're looking for more. |

I leave the cheese out specifically to kill you - after 3 sites, you are likely to drop more than a single sites worth of loot and also you solve a contractual problem of mine, in that I'd like the contents of my neighbors signatures moved to my hanger, but agreed to not go do that myself. Also my neighbours tend to be interested in helping me when this occurs, as realistically they'd like half their loots back (though I may be disinclined to tell them that its gametime). |

I agree. However, maybe he's getting tired of being a useless pet farming all day to give money to his slum lords and wants to kill some stuff. Hence the tough guy response.
Never is too late to play your own sandbox in eve online and i did some mistakes in the past too.

A scanning frigate is basically a player faction spawn, and its got nothing to do with being 'tough' its simply profitable to shoot the things, and if a bear knows one thing, it knows profit.
