"Evelopedia - NPE Project
The one and only official "wiki-pedia" for EVE online. Fully integrated into the EVE client and EVE websites, allowing tooltips, hints and how-to's to be linked contextually within the game."
Will we FINALLY get a SEARCH function for the forums?

Somebody already thought of it.
They're working on an EVE wiki, and as for search, there's EVE-Search, and there's an actual EVE-Online.com search function, but they're still working on it so there's no link to click for it on the left side of the screen. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Originally by: Bl4zer But, cmon, this is the Eve forums, we don't let facts get in the way of pointless speculation.

I've said it before, I'll say it again; there should be no need for a third party search website, that's just ****ing lame. There's NO excuse for not having an in-house search function.

Er, search.eve-online.com is an in-house search function. That's why it's got "eve-online.com" in the name.
Of course, it's still in development and of variable utility at the moment. But it's in-house. And it's a search function.

If it's what they claimed it was at the FanFest, it's a Google Search Appliance. They're definitely not free.

Not just that but why are CCP expected to create a search function from scratch when google are experts in it and are offering it cheaper than it would cost CCP in manhours to develop their own? It's only business sense to use google.

outsourcing the search to google is probally a better idea then attempting to code your own anyway, and it allows seach of the entire site and not just the forums.

Ok, allow me to refine my grievence; there should be an INTEGRATED search function, for example, a link at the top of the forms page, that takes you to the search page.

The current forum search is still in beta, so no, there won't be a link until its official.
