My lvl2 mission Cara looked like this:
High: 3x Assault 2x Heavy
Med: 2x Large Shield Extender 1x Passive Hardener (NPC specific) 1x Invulnerability Field 1x Afterburner
Low: 1x PDS 1x Shield Relay
Most modules are more or less named. This setup lets you sleepwalk through any lvl2 mission and 5xxx+ shield gives you PLENTY of time to warp anywhere just in case.

hmm in my opinion the caracal is way to fragile to be able to passive shild tank, it goes down to easy If something is hard going, its not worth doing |

IMHO, tanking in a Caracal is searching for 99% death. ----------------

Actually,
2 large shield extenders give over 5000 (tech 2 over 6000) shield hp.
I've flown one like that through some of the harder lvl 3 missions (Portal To War III, 2 of 5 ).
Haven't really tried a fully passive tank however, since NPCs don't NOS. Could be a nasty surprise for a casual pirate who thinks a Caracal surely must be made from paper. I will by all means try this some time.

4 large t2 shield extenders give u about 12 k shields and with t2 rokets (the high dmg kind) and one invulnera u are a huge surprise for a close range ship :) *me is drunk , and this setup was never tested in battle, but it will :P soon.. :) ... A wise man never plays TAG with a RINO |

Chejun setup seems pretty good. The only thing I would add is make sure you use both the 3% shield recharge and 3% hitpoint implants. Or 5% if you can afford it.
I would consider taking out the PDS module for another shield relay but at a glance it looks like you need the cap from the PDS.

IS the invuln field considered a passive module?

No but the best passive tanks are a balance of active hardeners and passive shield regen. You're eliminating the can needed for a shield booster, not the hardeners, which require a lot less to run.

I don't need Pottsey in THIS thread. I need Pottsey back in her thread to help me with my question about using passive on an Exequror.
