I use this when NPCing:
4 med pulse II AB small rep II, thermal membrane( i use TS, but you can go with t2 if you want), HS 2, 2xCPR
I'm planning to get rid of a CPR and maybe squish another HS, but its gonna be a while. Anyway, i've done all lvl 3 missions with this one and it works :)

4xmedium pulse II 1xAB 1xSAR II, 2xHS II, Passive Thermal Hardener, 1xCPR
I use this and was able to break a 3x1.55 Million BS spawn just last night. _________________________ Siggy by Esturary |

For lvl 3 missions (which I plan on doing), would the conflagration be worth it?

This is the lazy man's setup. Never needs refitting, never needs ammo, rarely needs attention. If there's no webbers you can in most belts and pretty much any L3 mission orbit the hostile of your choice and go afk for half an hour. It's not optimal in damage output or tankability, but it's extremely undemanding :P

Edited by: MicanG on 06/03/2006 22:30:16 4x Medium Pulse laser II, with Conflageration S or multi
AB II
Smal repairer II True Sansha Adaptive Nano Plating (around 10 mill) true Sansha Thermic Plating 2x heat Sink II
With my skills, I deal 186 DPS with multi crystals and 216 DPS with conflagration. orbitting at 5km with 560 m/s
I can run the AB 24/7 and the repairer long enough, but mostly with burst's
With this setup, I kill all serpentis BS , and even shieldtank And I can do almost every LVL.3 mission.
A skill heavy setup, but very nice to fly.

Pretty much a variation on the theme:
4 med pulse lasers (or dual beams for some extra range) + 1 named Small Nosferatu (the Amarr weapon of choice ) 1 AB II 1 Small Armour Rep. II, 1 Named Heatsink, 1 Co-Processor, 2 Passive Thermal Hardeners (to plug the hole)
I find the Nos is nice for fighting the bigger ships that take a while to kill. However, for fighting mostly the smaller and non-elite ships, the cap holds out adequately to run the SAR and AB (or SAR only once circling) for quite a long time. I just started trying out the beam lasers (which give me about 15km with Radio lenses), but am underwhelmed at their damage. I am finding that more and more I'm switching back to Multi-freq and closing to 5kms for more damage and to use the Nos.
I haven't tried Tech Secrets with this setup (can't wait to kick some Minne ass) but one or more of the Thermals might have to be switched to Kinetic given the copious amounts of missiles the lil' buggers use.

if u can afford it why not?
increase your dps.
in any case once your in range u dont need the afb on. thats wat your tank is for.
where can i petition the ISD member that messed with my sig for no reason? |

Conflagration has a tracking penalty - if you orbit too fast / close to your target you may not be able to track / hit. Adjust your speed & orbit accordingly - and Conflagration will give you better damage.
Normally I would use Conflagration in a situation where Gamma or Multifreq cant break the tank - they can be expensive to use all the time unless you hit the jackpot nailing a target. About 700K ISK per Crystal - lasts about 1000 shots each. It depletes rapidly ;)

The true lazy mans setup is in me old ishkur. 2x cap rechargers, a nos, and a small rep 2. Basically I just chose a BS in the spawn, turned on the nos and the rep, and played xbox while my drones went to work. ---- I <3 Taranis

I wouldn't use T2 ammo for missions. T2 Crystals, especially with small pulses melt rather fast. T1 crystals do the job just fine without the exorbiant cost. Heat sinks imo are better for belt ratting. If you want to do lvl3s solo i'd focus on armor tank instead of damage or speed. Don't forget to bring along long range crystals for the webbing buggas. Here's a setup with which you can tank pretty good.
Missions: 4X medium pulse II 1X Named Cap recharger (or T2 if u can afford/use one) 2X Small Armor Rep II, 2X CPR, 1X Thermal active hardner or 2X Small Armor Rep II, 1X CPR, 2X passive hardners of choice
Belt ratting 4X medium pulse II 1X AB 1Xsmall armor rep II, 1x CPR, 1x nano, 2x Heat sinks
It all depends on what you want to do and how much skills you have. Best solution i found was to keep trying out new setups myself, until i find a few i can use for certain purposes. Keep experimenting, that's what makes this game so much fun

Yup. Blockade and Assault are doable but very slow, Duo of Death is tankable but (with T1 crystals) can't break the tank on the BS.
@Exogene in my experience speed=life in a Retri - the AB is part of my tank.

Edited by: Viktor VonCarstein on 07/03/2006 11:41:01 I solo'd Part 10 Angel Strike Level 3 in a Retribution killing 6 Blood Raider Apocs and 4 Bhaalgorns plus numerous frigs and cruisers.
High
4 Med Pulse II (scorch and conflagaration ammo) scorch for frigs and light cruisers conflagaration for the rest.
Mid
1 AB II Speed the big guns can't hit you if you keep transversal up
Low
1 Small Armour Rep II 2 Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1 Heat Sink II 1 Cap relay
Tech 1 just doesn't cut it when using this thing.
