Edited by: Flax Volcanus on 06/03/2006 15:13:05 Okay, so there I was jumping thru Rancer. Checked the map and it's clear (and, btw, still says clear 10 minutes after I got hit). Come out of warp and get nailed at the gate by a smart-bombing Domi tanking the sentries. Got my ship and podded me, too.
I don't get it. I know the standard rationale for their gate sniping, but I was in a Kestrel, nearly all of which was vaporized by the overkill of a large smartie. Then, I get podded, which yields absolutely nothing of value.
I mean, what exactly is the purpose of that? I would assume that there's some fun involved on their end, except that only a middle-schooler would get a boost out of such a lopsided match-up. Must be compensating for some misfortune IRL. |

Well, how did they know you were not carrying a hold full of Zydrine, or a valuable BPO?
You won't find out unless you blow them up.
If in doubt, check local, scan the gate before warping through it, and approach it from a different angle if you suspect a camp. ------------------ The ISS Navy is recruiting.

Smart Bombs dont blow up cans.
One of the guys, I think espen looted a vindicator bpc and some Gist modules from a frig whilst smart bombing. So its not lke it dont make isk
Why pod? Having 100 people local *****ing at you whilst you are trying to arange safe travel for others is very very hard....why fuel the smacktalkers when you can pod them and they are gone.
Thats the reason why I pod, also when Im hunting if people dont move their pod in the 20secs or so it takes my bs to lock it, then they deserve to get podded.

I think he might've had the smarties running when i came out of warp. I don't recall being targeted at all...
And what is with the map updating? The ship loss took almost 30 min to show, and the podkill still doesn't register. What is the normal update time on that?

Map is fubared tbh, cant really rely on it.
Aligning to gate from a ss 1k off and scanning for traffic coming from the other gate is usally how its done, so the second he saw you on scanner, he warped down to gate and started the smart bombing.
Thats how I think he did it, it dont make sense to do it any other way

Yet farming is not alot of fun but its our "mining". next time you encoucounter TDG there are tolling options, tell us fast in local and you will save youre ship and pod.

They do change tactics once and awhile. You see Kestrels do get thru when they have 6+ folks sniping.
Podding leaves your nice froze corpse too, which after 20+ kills can create plenty of lag for peeps at the gates giving them a better chance with the snipe.
Don't bother with Rancer anyway, carry on, nothing of value there. _______________________________________________ Making Miracles, One pod at a time |

An insta in empire is pretty much 100% safe if ur in a small ship. The kestrel was smartbombed at the warp in point using autopilot or warp to.If he had warped to an instsa bm he would ahve been safe because smartbombs wont fire within 5km of gates.

True, they do not work close to the gates, but it doesn't matter. Smartbombs can damage a ship while its still in warp, long before it could be targeted.
So, just sit 10-40km in the front of gate, and do some timing practice (won't work well on all gate/grid setups).

No, it doesn't work anymore. I've given many shuttle/frigates a full round of large smartbombs right before they came out of warp and and not even being scratched.

No, I had come in from Crielere and was warping thru Rancer to the Miroitem gate. Came out of warp there and got popped.
I admit that it's my own fault for not using an insta. As I said, I was mainly trying to figure out the motivation behind the attack, rather than why I died. The latter is painfully obvious... |

Tech 1 frigates and pods usually blow up in 1 cycle. It is a '2 birds with one stone' system.... To activate only half of them to leave the pod would be ridiculous , especially as the chances are that they will dock and try to retrieve their loot in a shuttle.

Dear customer!
Thank you for the publicity - we really love when people open a new publicity topic for us.
To answer all your questions:
We pod because... - you did not pay a toll - your frozen body will uncloak covert ops ships - we are simply evil - we enjoy to make people quit that shouldnt play EVE
Smartbombs do not kill you in warp. A lot of timing skill is nessesairy for a smartbomb-kill. If the bomber is in position too early, sentrys will shot him too long. If too late the target is allready out of range or mwds away before he can be killed. A crow can mwd away in 1 sec. So smartbombing is a really difficult job. Your Kessi was an easy kill, though.
All in all i have to say that TDG does only piracy. In our eyes this means that every single ISK we have is stolen. No mining, no npc-ing, no producing, no trade (except loot selling), no scams, no ebaying ISK. So we need to make ISK with destroying or tolling travellers or belt miners. Everything else would mean to leave out path of piracy. I am absolutly sorry that your game experience is a *boom* only and then a jump to your clone - but please ask CCP about this and why they balanced the game in this way. We would really prefer to give you a nasty fight, but we also have to keep eyes on our wallets.
To give you some numbers: we are now farming in empire for 5 months without a break. We ususally have 3-5 pilots online every day for 3-5 hours. This are 150 (days) x 4 (pilots) x 4 (hours) = 2400 hours work. We made 10 bil ISK this way. So our payment is 4,16 mil ISK/hour. So it¦s right to say: 1 piratehour = 1 mil ISK. I guess that¦s a lousy income compared to other porfessions, but we are happy with it

These guys are prolly some of the oldest and bestest pirates in game mate. I tried it for a while, personally being -10 just annoyed me, so i sorted out my sec status and went all respectable.
Why pod? why not. Ransom? always good to get ISK for doing what you love; mainly shooting stuff lots. Anyways for a lot of pirates it is a primary source of income.

- we enjoy to make people quit that shouldnt play EVE
- we are simply evil
Seriously, how old are you and who do you think you're to make such stupid statement about enjoying to make people, that "should not play Eve", quit. ???
I hate to break it to you, but you 're just a few pixels on a monitor, nothing more.
And by the way, you qualify yourself as evil, I would rather say you're an immature teenager who like to think of himself as a big baddass, but being a badass, camping a virtual gate 4 hours a day in a virtual world does not impress a lot of people, except the simple minded.
would you like some cheese with your whine?
and post with your main. pretty please? thank you darling :*

I've got no problem at all with pirats, ransoning or podding people and maybe I will choose this profession in the future.
When I see " we enjoy to make people quit that shouldnt play EVE", I don't look if the guy posting this is a pirat, a miner or whatever he wanna be , I just think this kind of comment is extremely rude. That's the kind of thinking " hey, if you dont play this game like I think it should be, go away "
Maybe he did not mean it and maybe I took it way too seriously but this is totally uncall for.

Lol, that one is funny , why do you think I need to post with an alt ??? do you think everybody in this game is afraid of you ? I live in Khanid atm, a few jumps from your alliance territory by the way, so if you want to come at home for the tea, just send me a mail.
Best regards.

To be honest with you, people that quit a game becouse they got killed says something about the person. It basicly means that the person doesent have anything to do in the game. That is what lifewire means and i agree with him, it does give a sence of pleasure when some crying newbie looses everything and starts whining about quitting the game and so on. I cant see that his statement was rude, we just like to be evil.
