Is is possible to see a ships weapons load out at range with any kind of scanner?
Reason I'm asking is I'm looking to do some anti-pirateing and was wondering if they can tell if I have a few miners equiped, or weapons.
I'm hopeing to trick them into thinking I"m a miner, and when they get in and start attacking, toss out the web and go to town on em.

Not with a scanner. You can do the ol' "look at" and see what sort of turrets are fitted.

They'll be able to see you have guns fitted, if they've half a brain. Might work on some folks, though.

didn't think of that one. should still work. Dont' think too many people will do that with a "miner" ship. Thanks.

If the guy is sniping in empire, then no as your look at option is not available after 100km and the guy is going to be 150km from gate

missle bays are not visible
deploy a couple mining drones and go fishing

It won't look too strange having weapons, they could just be for fighting off NPCs.

Already done that. ship is called Asteroid (Veldspar).
Makes a few people laugh. :)

You could always fly out a tanked Indy and lock him down until reinforcemets arrive. You should have the midslots for a decent scramble/web. Tank in lows.

I hope pirates have removed Asteroids from the overview  I know I have and I'm a  . Only miners need Asteroids in ther overview.

Yes they would, I do too but what I was getting at is sorting the list by type would eliminate this tactic.

Ship scanners are good at a least 30km (I played with fitting one briefly so it may be further) but they are extremely flaky. I have scanned frigates that showed 8 high slots fitted. Honestly very few people use scanner mods.
But if you want to get jumped in a belt by a pirate just go to low sec and sit in a belt. If you feel subterfuge will make it more fun slap on a civvy miner and drop can next to you and start cutting rocks.
