i just saw that DVD "Wal-Mart - The High Cost of Low Price" and i'm absolutly shocked ... i can't ever again buy anything in WalMart ... sad thing is that there are other big companies which hold the same kind of style for their business if you ever get the chance to buy or watch this film i strongly recommend you do it!

Walmart-type organizations are a potential future of business. Walmart is highly leveraged on the market, and as such, has to keep expanding. They seem powerful and influential, but really are utterly at the behest of internationalizing markets. Their speculative function is to rapidly equalize the difference in those markets. The intelligence behind such an organization is the ability to catalogue and precisely identify shifts in the demands of regional markets, no matter how petty.
It is to be taken for granted that nationalistic, union types would oppose it.
For the record, I am not a Randroid. I classify those between Furries and retired professional athletes on my list of things to avoid.
In short, do not fear the Walmart. Walmart is your friend. Love and know Walmart. Walmart Walmart Walmart.

One of the points you learn is when you ask for your benefits package at WM they give you a stack of gov forms to sign up for welfare. A staggering % of their workers are on gov welfare (fact: WM has more workers than anyone else 1M+ (over the size of the USA Army(the employees + the sporting good section could take over most countries))), and its actually WM pushing them into the gov assistance so they dont have to pay them any more salary. The usa and state govs don't approve or encourage this which recently got WM in some hot water.

i was thinking that
Hopefully this won't get pwned by mods as being too political, but...
Wal-Mart is a US empire of discount goods stores that employ people at the lowest possible payscale. Minimum wage, mostly. I say empire because most of the stores have an average of 1000 employees. The minimum wage is an insult enough, but the employees have piddly health benefits (if they're lucky enough to qualify for any at all) and a few years ago, the company got into a huge spat because of illegally employing workers who weren't legal immigrants or people who were even legally allowed to work in the US. There's no real minority or race issues... except for the stereotype that minorities are the only ones that work at Wal-Mart... and the other major issue they had was forcing some employees to work overtime hours and not report the overtime. Big no-no, basically.
But what is bad about Wal-Mart? Quality... It's not exactly where you'd want to buy your entire wardrobe. Occasionally you can go in there and just get something small that you need, like a tube of toothpaste or a pack of windshield wiper blades.
Their main competition is a store chain called Target, which is significantly smaller than the big W, but their overall product quality is hugely better, their selection is a bit smaller, but you can find virtually the same products at hugely better qualities for only a few dollars more.
Me, personally, I'm boycotting Wal-Mart... I don't really believe in their ethics for employment... my ex- worked there for years, and even her supervisors asked her to work overtime hours when clocked out, and refused to pay her, even out of pocket. ----- I want my sig h4xx0r3d by Oveur! ...but I'll settle for any mod since Oveur can't h4x like the best of 'em... |

Did you know that Wal-Mart is not only THE Biggest Corporation in USA, it is also THE Biggest Corporation in the World? (Fortune 500 USA/GLOBAL) information. Wal-Mart is #1.
How horrible for us, regular people.
I saw the video, but I always hated Wal-Mart anyway.

I was watching a documentary on tv once, and its really interesting how they come about aquiring their products.
What happens is, local disributors come to a headquaters and they go in a room with some Wal-mart workers. The distributors say that they have so and so product and Wal-Mart says we will give you this much for it, no higher no lower. If the disributor disagrees, Wal-Mart basically says "we'll go buy from someone else and put you out of business"
This is how wal-mart is able to maintain unbelievably low prices. That, and illegal workers.

not only that but all these buy one get one free offers dont cost the big supermarkets a penny, they force the suplyers/farmers to give them all the extra goods free of charge and all the hauleirs that have a contract with the supermarkets are forced to haul all the extra goods free of charge and if they complain they are told they will lose their contracts to supply the stores
