first off, whats so smart about these things? do they not damage gangmates/friendly drones that are in range? other than that i have no idea why these would be considered "smart" weaponry.
secondly, from the searching i have done on the forums few players think highly of smartbombs. not that they hate them, they just don't use them and i have been wondering why.
do they tend to use too much cap? range not good enough? only one skill (-5% duration per level) available to augment its use?

They damage everything in range at full damage (- resists, but not like missles where speed/size counts as well), except for cargo cans. If you're not careful, you will destroy your own drones. They have very limited range, and insane capacitor useage. They're also pretty dumb really :) ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! I think a better definition of 'smart' in this case would be: 'painfully severe' and part of the reason that people don't like them is because, as you pointed out, they affect everything within their radius. Friend or foe...

They hit everything but you... that's kinda smart right?

ok, figured they were actually dumb. sounds like a name along the lines of R.D.F.s (Radiate Damage/Desctruction Fields) or R.D.F.E.s (Radiate Damage/Destruction Field Emitters)would be alot more accurate.
i'll have to think about its uses some more but at least i know some of the limitations that come along with using a "smartbomb".

Why question is if they can act like defenders and block missiles hitting you? if you went through a camped gate and saw the Raven firing the missiles could a smartbomb at the right moment stop them before they reached you or would it just do a pretty show before you also blew up? |
