Today a small task Force of five SolarWind set out to disrupt some pirates. So we set forth to the pirates neck of the galaxy (we brought the fight to them) Obe. We did not have to travel so deep before we found some action in Jan. We came across a blockade of five BattleShips and one Cruiser at the gate heading toward Obe. The numbers were not quite in our favor but we decided to make a push. We brought down 1 Battle Ship (Pilot Included) and severely hurt a couple more before they bugged out. (No losses to our side)
The Pirates regrouped and made an assault to retake the gate they once were locking down. This Pirate assault was lead by Tank CEO himself. The Pirate Retaliation on SolarWind was quickly repelled with no losses to either side.
At this point in time the local channel was filling up with Pirates, so we returned and held at the gate leading out of Jan toward empire space. After several minutes of exchanging pleasantries. The third time then the Pirates sent a much larger attack force to the exit gate... at this time we bugged out :)
I just wanted to say it was fun, we look forward to more house cleaning in the future.
Cheers :)

Edited by: Thalen Mort on 07/09/2003 00:11:23 Yes, I enjoyed this diversion to mining and the endless moving of minerals to make equipment and ships......
Although not a path that I would choose to take it was fun to have human opponents (Pirate corps) and not juggies and ravagers controlled by the artificaial stupidity of the game.
No hard feelings to the pirate corperations. Hope it was fun for you fellows/ladies as well.
I am sure we will meet again and have fun trying to put each other into "pod suits"

Tank CEO is the person who is about to post on this thread claiming that his side lost no ships, and that the Solar Wind people were utterly destroyed.
Aside from that... he's a person who used to be CEO in some corp (I forget which one). He is no longer CEO there because some of the other members didn't like his agenda too much, so they took their leave of his corp along with all the corporation assets of any value. Currently, Tank is pirating it up in the corporation M3G4.

Asmodia who are you? Your lack of background knowledge about the whole situation makes YOU look like the fool. Tank CEO has been around since beta, one of the first pirate types i heard about once the game went live. As far as "noobie bashing"? SolarWind is a respected corporation both inside and outside the stain alliance. please take the trolling elsewhere.

Please everyone,
We just posted this event in our day to express the fun we had in "doing" something.
Although we do not respect the path the pirates of eve have chosen the individuals that we battled fought well and hard. We are not out to discredit or belittle our chosen opponents, but to battle the way of life their corperations have chosen. We will continue to strike at pirate corps when we are able and will continue to try to make eve a safer place to live and travel. Although I do not respect the "career" pirates have taken I do respect their ability to battle and plan. --------------------------------------------- Just because you are paranoid does not mean people are not out to get you. |

Um yea, the first attack you made upon the gate I wasn't able to make it to this fight since I was refitting and you guys attacked when I was doing this. I then warped to the gate and saw 5 Stain alliance members there and warped away. In the mean time, I had to leave because I had to get rdy to go out. I did not lead any attacks that day and wasn't on after the first strike.

I am curious as to why Ranan seems to think we are a pirate corp...In fact we have a history of helping to break pirate blockades in the DSS to HED areas. We also have a history of fighting pirates.
We headed into Stain in the very beginning in frigates and small cruisers and with a lot of hard work were able to forage a living there. We formed an alliance out of mutual need with others in the area for protection from "pirate" corps and were able to push them from the area.
Now when others who were not part of the painfull process of being the "frontier" corperations that took their losses in the beginning just want to come and take advantage of the protection we provided with our fellow alliance members. They want to mine and Trade and set up bases here. There are many non-stain corps that have obtained permission to hunt npc's and conduct operations here under permit. But they first come through proper channels and obtain that permission first. Others totally disregard the proper channels and decide to enter and are surprised when they meet resistance. By getting a permit we know who is in the region which better allows us to "police" the area from pirate blockades/attacks etc.
I do not believe this makes one a "Pirate" as we are only defending our ships and people from pirate attack....
I guess if a Pirate shoots at Ranan that he does not fire back as that would make him a "pirate" too then.

S.A.D.
A german based corp filled with what can only be described as blithering idiots. Running my Mk2 through 1.0 space filled with a jolly full load of mods, after coming through low sec space, I find myself getting scrambled and webbified by a jumpgate in a 1.0 system by a pair of S.A.D. Pilots. Needless to say, on go the hardeners and stabilizers and I waited long enough to actually consider watching CONCORD pound them into dirt before they jumped out, but I decided my cargo was worth more than they were, so I warped out.
They didn't even scratch the paint, let alone get my shields past 75%. =============================== Deception + Information + Skill |

What's your point? You pirates fought other pirates, so what?
If you hold ppl up at gates leading into a region and demand money or you shoot, then you are a pirate. If you find people within "your" region without a passport and then shoot if they don't pay, you are a pirate.

SolarWind has never held a blockade that requested isk to pass through.......
People who are in our region are asked to leave if they do not have a "passport". If they refuse then they are fired upon.

think of it more as government, if combat aircraft from other countries enter U.S airspace without authorization, often hostilities ensue, either in the form of an escort, diplomatic retaliation etc.
here i compare stain alliance to a nation, and i believe that is a fairly accurate metaphor, remember the United States is itself a self declared nation, and while SA doesn't call itself a nation, in the eve universe that, i believe, is a fairly reasonable description
p.s. all the references to the US are because i'm american of course.. i'm sure there are similar policies in other nations, in fact i'm sure of it... *china*

Pirate
Quote:
piĀrate
1(a) One who robs at sea or plunders the land from the sea without commission from a sovereign nation.
1(b) A ship used for this purpose. One who preys on others; a plunderer. One who makes use of or reproduces the work of another without authorization. One that operates an unlicensed, illegal television or radio station.
v. piĀratĀed, piĀratĀing, piĀrates v. tr. 1 To attack and rob (a ship at sea). 2 To take (something) by piracy. 3 To make use of or reproduce (another's work) without authorization.
defend
Quote:
deĀfend
v. deĀfendĀed, deĀfendĀing, deĀfends v. tr.
1 To make or keep safe from danger, attack, or harm.
2 Sports. (a) To attempt to prevent the opposition from (b) scoring while playing in or near (a goal or (c) area of a field, for example). To be responsible for guarding (an opposing player). To compete against a challenger in an attempt to retain (a championship).
3 To support or maintain, as by argument or action; justify.
4 Law. (a) To represent (a defendant) in a civil or criminal action. (b) To attempt to disprove or invalidate (an action or claim).
v. intr. 1 To make a defense. 2 Sports. To play defense.
I guess I can understand how some may be confused between Pirating and Defending. SolarWind has never been or will ever be a Pirate, on countless times we have helped the Eve community and will continue to do so. If there is/was ever a mistake it is resolved quickly.
This is totally of topic now to what this post was originally, but when someone misunderstands the fine line between good and evil, I will try and help show the difference.
Every one have fun out there, -Napalm

We actually Control access, people who are not pirates (see meaning above) have to ask for a pass... If you Knock at our door instead of trying to drive through it, you will see that we are very Accommodating
