Has anyone had any luck running Eve on a pc running a Nvidia 5900 Ultra video card?

NO and I'm pretty ****ed off about it too. EVE ran beautifully on my 128mb version then I upgraded to the 256mb ULTRA and I can't even get the login screen.
I uninstalled and it actually let me login but proceeded to download 939 through 1166 and promptly refused to work after that. Apparently they patched it so well it won't work :-(

Same issue here with a Nvidia 5600 256m card. For the moment I put my old 64m card back in. CCP sent me a reply to my petition telling me to turn off the sound (in a .ini file in the eve directory) but have not tried it yet. Will soon tho.

That sounds pretty pathetic. Considering my 256 card is using the same IRQ (11) and memory address of my 128mb card I doubt sound is an issue. At least you got an answer...

Edited by: Threads on 08/09/2003 13:43:16 To those still having problems:
I have a eVGA 5900 Ultra and Eve, and 90% of other games, would crash within seconds. I wrote eVGA about it and they sent me the ORIGINAL BIOS flash (because eVGA overclocks the card and adds other tweaks to it out the door...) After reflashing the card's bios, every game works like a charm.
So what kind of card are you using?
Also, Eve requires the AGP Aperture to be 4 MB on the 5900 Ultra in your system BIOS (this may only be true for the eVGA model.)
Post your results! Good luck.

Apparently the problem is the new 4.5.2.3 drivers that are REQUIRED to make Flight Sim 2004 work. Reverting to old drivers fixes EVE and fries FS2004. So now the question is WHO FIXES THIS. nVidia or CCP?

Jasmine -
See if your card maker has posted their own special version of 45.23 - eVGA did and I use it - as well as overwriting their special bios flash which pooched all my games. grrr They fixed me up, though, so I'm happy.
Who makes your card?

PNY seems to have an upgrade for Mythic but otherwise, they point to nVidia's page for the latest drivers:
http://www.pny.com/support/drivers/?prod=verto
1) What is your system's AGP Aperture setting in BIOS? (Try a 4 MB setting!)
2) What OS are you running?
3) What is your sound card or is it integrated into the motherboard?
4) Are you having trouble with any other games?
5) Have you tried opening up a ticket with PNY about it?

1) Not sure of the current setting, will try changing it 4mb aperature.
2) Win XP Pro SP1
3) Integrated Realtek ALC655 AC'97 (Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8KNXP)
4) No problems running other games so far.
5) Have not started a trouble ticket with PNY yet.

Did this just happen with the latest patch to 1166 or was it like that beforehand?

I am using the 45.23 driver set with 8x AGP mode in the bios, with no problems running the game.

I've got a Leadtek WinFast A350 TDH Ultra - their latest drivers are several months older than the reference drivers. Leadtek cards are designed around reference drivers so their own customizations are few and far between.
The problem with EVE only started after updating to 4.5.2.3 drivers so I could play FS2004 Looking at the release notes for nvidia drivers they seem to address specific games in each revision so I'm guessing EVE will be fixed in the next update.

Does anyone know if the next scheduled patch will address the 5900 ultra compatibility issues?

the eVGA 5900 has it's bios overclocked by factory default. getin touch with the manufacturers they will send you a flashbios upgrade. that should restore alot of your compatibility.
