The popular mod for Arma 2 has now been released as a stand alone version for $30. Its in Alpha stage and BI says it will contain bugs and unfinished content.
Now I'm not an DayZ fan but I am an ArmA fan and just thought I would share for anyone interested. People, who talk, don't know. People, who know, don't talk. |

Ahh... The DayZ Standalone. The 'game' that Dean Hall has been working on for years now and barely has anything accomplished with it that hasn't already been done better and more stable in existing mods, including his original DayZ mod. Instead of working on the game he's been taking trips to Mt. Everest and visiting tourist traps around the world, while more and more people get tired of waiting and move on to other things. A lot of the 'features' he's been proposing and trying ti implement has received quite a number of negative reviews, yet he's pushing them through anyways because it's his game and he want to make it his way instead of keeping it balanced. Not to mention he's been building it on the older engine that Aram2 ran on, instead of the updated engine used in Arma3.
Speaking of Arma3, there's already a fairly well made zombie mod for it called Breaking Point that's improved on a lot of the flaws DayZ had. It's still in alpha but the developers interact with the community regularly to talk about ideas or any issues that need resolved. |
