So I am working away from home and my addiction to EVE is just too strong! My mobile phone provider offer a connection spped of 374 kbs which, theoretically at least, should be enough to connect to EVE. However there is a download limit of 56MB per month.
My question therefore is will this download limit have affect me playing? I have looked at all the technical info but cannot find anything on packet / data transfer size. Please could one you lovely technical bods out there tell me roughly how much 'playtime' I can expect - minutes, hours, days......or am I being totally unrealistic?
Many thanks in advance for all your help

If you check this another thread you'll see folks estimating the bandwith usage.
Originally by: B03S days: Thursday 2 march.. 3.84Mb down / 0.17Mb Up Friday 3 march.. 1.07Mb down/ 0.13Mb Up Saturday 4th.. 1,79Mb down / 0,18Mb Up
I usually play upto 3 hours on weekdays and 6 hours/day in the weekends
So looks you'll have pretty many hours of playing available. Oh, and this time, don't keep clearing the cache..

I'd disable the avatar loading on clicking the picture/placeholder. Think that might keep the download-rate low.

On the contrary. I'd guess that it takes less that 50 bytes to transfer an avatar. If you remember from character creation, it's nothing other than a set of selectors (hair, lipstick, etc.), and 4 2d sliders for "face" shape. I'd bet that all they do is send those parameters, and generate the avatar client-side.
That being said, to the OP I do exactly what you're describing, I have GPRS service on my mobile. Bandwidth isn't the issue, I have about the same throughput as a 56k modem. What may get you is the brutally high latency. I'd tend to stay clear of combat, the lag might put you in a pod. However, manufacturing, sales, etc. are just fine.

I played on an airplane over the satalite internet connection they had. Actually worked pretty well.
I was playing EVE while I flew over Iceland. Ah, what a crazy world we live in.

Between the learning skills and the tutorial, Eve is like a firewall against the attention deficit kids I like it this way

I used to play alot on a vodafone 3G card and it works really well. I don't remember the exact numbers but logging in for the first time in a couple of days used 200k or so and after that usage is tiny, 2mb for a 3 or 4 hour session. These are all from memory but it's been 6 months or so.
