As in title: would a volley of cruise missiles 'bump' a ship trying to align from warp? I'm thinking Cruisers/Battlecruisers being the target here.
Anybody tested it? (got no cruiser-launching friends myself, so I just gotta ask!)

Not any more, but back in the day missile spam prevented people from warping by knocking them out of alignment, and it was evil. I think it went out with the Castor patch, but someone with a better memory than me would be able to confirm that. ....

Its still a popular tactic among pirates though to physically bump a ship with your own ship to keep them from warping.
We did that to someone who always ran 6x WCS in the lows. Kept them still long enough to kill.

Thank god it doesn't. The Caldari already have enough of a percentage of the playerbase.

Ah! Ok; not an urban myth then, but definitely in the past.
Oh well, good ol' ramming will have to do for now. Thanks for the quick reply.

Missile bumping was a great way to keep the buggers pinned down, and also was great fun in mwd rifter with cruise missile fights!
Used to MWD right into target to bump and then as you hit launch 2 cruise missiles and watch them spin full 180, web them and your buddies have pounded them to death as you leave range again with mwd :)

The most ebil thing was when you would lose speed every time you fired a defender missile using certain ships.
Took me quite a while (and a couple of megaT) to realize why the bleep I couldn't warp out.
Thank goodness that's fixed now

brings blind man's vid to mind-one of the final clips is him and some cruiser pals taking down a tempest, and a big overlay appears "ts: omg he's got stabs bump him!!11!" so blind man hits his ab and bumps the crap out of the tempest, which is subsequently owned

I miss firing a torp at a NPC and a player flying infront of the missile and getting hit.. Oh how I laughed as Concorde came to see my little Caracal.

ahhh the memories of empire war, having someone launch a torp at you and then you mwd right through a crowd sat there watching who get the lovely suprise of a whack in the face and some splash damage from the torp... then concord coming in to pop the guy attacking you Proving natural selection and Charles Darwin wrong since 1981.
