So last night I had my second PvP encounter, and the first one I actually got mashed in. I was jumped in 0.4 by 3 members of a pirate corp. After smooshing my Rupture's shields and armour (it was quite easy, I got in such a panic I forgot to activate my shield booster or my missile launchers ) and taking out half of my structure, we all ceased fire and a private convo was started. I awaited the ransom amount. Meanwhile, the third member of the pirate corp clearly got bored or something, and finished off my ship. I warped back to the station, and the pirate leader apologised and offered to pay for my ship, as he had no intention of destroying me. Now here is the good bit - he asked me how much the ship was worth, I said 14 million ISK. And he gave it to me. Come on people, does it really take that much effort to click the market button and look it up? (A Rupture is all of about 6.5 million at the moment) So anyway, I toddled off in a shuttle and with my savings picked up a rather nice Battlecruiser I had been training and saving for.
So the moral of my story? You pirates may be evil, cunning, adaptive and ruthless, but you want to be careful of naughty liars like me. Also, big respect to the pirates who took me down last night. After reading all the whining posts about pirates who dont ransom, pod people, and are generally rude and nasty, I'm glad I was caught by reasonable human beings.
Thank you and goodnight!

his reputation was woth 14mil isk
If I go to ransom someone and they get blown up by someone in my gang I pay whatever will shut them up to an extent ofc.
Maybe he hadnt looked to see what was on your ship, also the fact tha if they had ransomed afew, he prolly had alot of isk on him belonging to the pirate who blew you up....It id be more lke 'haha, I just gave him 14mil belonging to you' followed by cheers and laughter on ts

And in posting this..You've probably made another percentage of pirates decide not to ransom as well...Well Done...

Unless he never flew, bought, sold or ransomed a ship, he knew no cruiser by itself is worth more than 10 millions.
I guess he was not asking about the ship, he was asking about the value of the ship plus modules.

You guys all fly empty ships? I fit modules to mine, I find they work better that way.
You could easily be 14mil down on a Ruppie.

every honorable piratecorp will pay an "excuse-me-bonus" if they destroy the ship by accident ... so 14mil as payout is not that extravagant without checking the market

Shesh, what a n00bz0r!
Toothpicks are for carebears; tough pirates, we just give the roid a Chuck Norris look, and the ore jumps into the jetcan.
(I still cannot make the jetcan go to the station and unload the ore into my hangar, though; I think that's a Mr. T look and I ain't got that figured out yet )

Remember those expensive things you fit to your ship to make it you know... do stuff. Modules, I believe they're called. ;)
My rupture setup is ~50m :-/
Congrats tho, heh.
In short: Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

I accidentilly blew up a Rifter once, and paid him 5M for it. It's not to compensate for the ship, but more to compensate for the reputation loss I guess.
