I highly recommend joining a FW group. You'll be able to get money while fighting, won't lose as much sec status, cheaper logistics, fleets, and will have a large playerbase of more experienced players whom you can ask for help.



A lot of the new FW groups have no strings attached as well. So you can join and there's no need to do things you don't want to do, such as POS/IHUB bashing or things like that.

Me and a friend have plans to go in low-sec. This will be my first time PVPing and I want to know if anyone has any tips or anything that I should read up on?

I really don't want to say what I'll be flying. ( Just in case )

But I'd really like some help If I could get some on starting out on my first PVP encounter.

I could give you some basic, general advice, but how about something more specific than that?

You will more than likely experience something called "combat lockup". Basically, the first few times you're in a PvP situation, you will panic. You will forget to activate an important module, or fail to properly set your distances, or miss an opportunity to light up the correct target. Do not blame yourself for this. It is entirely natural.

Now, I'm sure a bunch of people would probably say this only happens to bad or inexperienced players, and in this regard they are partly correct. When you first start PvPing in EVE, you will be both bad and inexperienced. Do not let this bother you. Baptism by fire is one of the most effective ways to get past this.

In time, if you really enjoy the rush of PvP, you will end up reading more, watching more, and just generally being more interested in understanding how to PvP effectively.

So there. That's some practical advice for you. Just enjoy the encounter, and die honorably. Go in there expecting to die... wanting to die... and you will have grown by leaps and bounds before you even start.

Why did you post decent stuff with a derp alt???

If you are flying something so cool/valuable to you that you cant say then you really don't want to start pvp in it.


You only need a Merlin/Tristan/Condor/Incursis or similar cheap frigate to get started.

People really tend to underestimate the Rifter now that it is no longer king-of-the-hill in frigate pew pew.

That also means people are very willing to engage one... allowing you to use it's somewhat diminished reputation to bait people into agression... and then kill them with some help of your other Rifter friends! The truth is that the Rifter may no longer be the most popular frigate, the others have been pretty much been brought onto it's level.... but people tend to think it has been nerfed into the ground. It really hasn't.

The latest fad in my corp is to interdict FW systems, and for some reason the often-underestimated Rifter seems to gain in popularity among people attending these fleets. FOTM = armor tanked arty-Rifter (Wolfcub) and to be honest... it's actually really fun to fly, and quite effective when supported by some EWAR and short-ranged tackle frigates.
