Do you think this will have more widespread political ramifications? My understanding is that she was not necessarily Shakor's biggest fan and thinks that technology will simply crush any military force one could bring to bear. I suppose her point was somewhat borne out when the Elder Fleet was evaporated by a Terran weapon.
I'm somewhat less learned on her more specific policies. "What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?"

That concept has worked pretty well for the State, to be honest. It helped bring us from a smattering of seccessionist colonies and accompanying diaspora to one of the largest and most powerful entities in the entire cluster.

The Caldari Navy is widely recognized as supremely capable of carrying out its mandate, and technological superiority is one of the major cornerstones of its doctrine. An advancement of warfighting technology for the Republic Fleet would be a logical step in leveraging its effectiveness. |

As I agreed, a single piece of technology is sometimes the difference between a state's life and death. "What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?"

In reply to Mr. Constantine -
Yes, almost certainly, the elevation of Acassa Midular to the position of Tribal Chief will have wider political impacts; our tribe has always been at the forefront of Minmatar politics, and we seem to have selected exactly the person to oppose those who might wish to see that position weakened...
*cough* SHAKOR *cough*
Externally, we shall have to see just how much her desire for independence of the Tribe impacts the wider cluster, as well as her stated desire to modernize. However, I believe these things ARE in the best interest of our Tribe, and, by extension, the Matari people as a whole.
I am eager to see where she leads us. Im equally eager to see what every other Tribe and nation does in response. GÇ£Crying is all right in its own way while it lasts. But you have to stop sooner or later, and then you still have to decide what to do.GÇ¥-á

Of course there is some nepotism.
We are a Tribal society. You should really find a dictionary and look the word up, Mr. Caine.
We are not a democracy. We are not a corporate body of directors.
A family attains status through deeds, and retains it through deeds.
Karin Midular did well by our Tribe during her years as chief. Her niece has done well during her tenure as a Clan Chief, and has all the hallmarks of a sound, forward-thinking leader.
Why, exactly, wouldnt the Sebiestor Council appoint her as chief? GÇ£Crying is all right in its own way while it lasts. But you have to stop sooner or later, and then you still have to decide what to do.GÇ¥-á

I offer my own personal congratulations to the Sebiestor people and to the Matari in general in the successful elevation of the new Sebiestor Chief.
No change, be it in a political climate or any other form, is without strife or uncertainty. I hope Chief Midular can bring honor to her Tribe and family name and find a true voice for the Council and that the Matari People can further their goal of coming together as one unified and successful nation. It would please me much if such a show of stability could become one of many restorations of balance across all four of the Empires.
I lift a glass to the continued elevation of all Empires peoples... and progress towards civilizations which place their commonwealth as the priority of change, rather than the government itself being the focal point.
