This has probably been asked a million times, but is there any real benefit to one race or the other, besides the ships you get?

No, not in fact that either.
You can use any ship no matter what race you choose as long as you train the appropriate skills.
The only difference are in roleplaying terms, character appearance, and attributes.

of course there is like amarr are more intilgent then the slave races and that amarr space is bigger so that means easier to find more of thoose ships ... and the amarr are superiour in all ways ..

Nah, Amarr have the worst damage types, the worst fitting combinations, the worst T2 ships (Khanid ewwwwww), etc.
I fly them anyways though.

Oh Puh-leeze. heh heh
The Amarr are a race of has-beens. They failed to hold the Minmatar in slavery and their technology has been eclipsed by the Caldari, who have the most advanced tech outside of Jovian space.
The Amarr are the past. The Caldari are the future.
