Hi,
I have downloaded and installed EVE online on the following hp laptop
The games launches and authenticates correctly, but after 2-3 seconds of loading the character screen, the whole system CTD (crash to desktop) without any error messages.
I have all the latest updates, drivers and servicepacks for the system.
Anyone got any ideas what the solution might be, if any.
best regards
Jagd.

For one your processor is slightly low but im geussing the main reason is that onboard graphics card you have. It is very unlikely that eve will not work with it hence why you crash. Still it shud at least let you get onto the character screen, that bit puzzles me...

thanks for the response.
I also looked into the problem with the cpu, but it should be enough to atleast get it started. We are just talking about setting skills basically :)
Is there anyway I can review any logs/error messages why it might have crashed?
or a client/tool that would go trough the preferences of the computer to see if it meets the minimum working standards?

Eve simply won't run on that graphics card I'm afraid. See this page for supported graphics cards. --------------

Edited by: Kunzara on 10/03/2006 12:51:08 Intel« Pentium« M 750 is a centrino cpu und have enough power to run eve. I think its your graphic card, which is not directx 8 ( or 9, dont know exactly what eve need) compatible.
edit
The following graphic cards are not supported by EVE: ... Intel Extreme Graphics Onboard Intel chips, such as the Intel740, the Express 3D Graphics Card, and the 82830M/82815/82810/82845G/82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controllers ...
possibly your Intel« Graphics Media Accelerator 900 belongs to the list too.

Actually having looked up the specs for that card it does support dx9. I think the problem is that it doesn't support hardware Transform and Lighting (T&L). --------------

CCP should support a "plain polygon" renderer for folks with older systems or non T&L GPUs.
The visual frills have no bearing on representing important information to the player, really--so why not? The nebula-filled backdrops replaced by a simple traditional starfilled, ships de-texturized (and perhaps polygon-reduced). Even those of us with systems that can handle the "flair" might want to run with "plain polygons", at least for the nostalgic throwback to Elite et al.

I had the same problem with my laptop. The problem lies in the same CTD issue that people had loading other player portraits. If you can get an older resFace.stuff file, it should fix it. Can't be bothered to find it, atm, but it's on the workarounds board, somewhere.

Hi Jagdtiger, I have the same graphicscard on a HP laptop as well and eve is running overe here. With the last build (3805) i had some problems as well and used this Linkage as said by Crovan. Since the latest patch i didn't have to use this trick. However if you do use that trick make sure that before patching you reinstall the latest resface.stuff file. Otherwise the patching will be corrupted and you have to reinstall to complete client. But like i said, since the latest patch i dont have the problem nemore.

EVE really is only a direct7 game. they stat you need 9, this is prolly for bug fixes requiring new api style calls. my mobility radeon 7500 with 32mb of ram play the game fine.
that being said, the intel integrated graphics chips never did work right for games. You could try playing around with the drivers, but I'm gonna guess you are out of luck.
