The question is often asked, why are we called The Shattered Star Confederation?
The answer is that we have a strong belief in the symbol that represents us, The Shattered Star. It is no simple logo for those who have been here awhile, it is rather a visual representation of what it means to be SSC. It is a reminder of our Ideals and the manner in which we should treat one another. The Shattered Star is comprised of various pieces, each different in proportion and appearance- yet all equally connected and crucial the the existance of the whole. This forms our symbol, our heart, and our reminder- Our namesake, The Shattered Star.
So are we, in the SSC. An alliance of individuals, different in as many ways as might be counted- yet all connected and equally important and necessary for the whole to exist as a strong and cohesive body.
The Ideals
They are our foundation. In the Star are 5 parts. Each piece represents one of these Ideals. In essence, the Ideals are the principles on which the SSC was founded. They are the reason so many of us have been brought together through our history. Understanding them is inseperable from truly understanding the SSC. It is assumed that by joining SSC one has read and agrees with the Ideals.
The History of the =SSC=
The SSC was founded in November of 1997, making it almost six years in the running. Since then we have been represented in many games, through many division and have even appeared in the credits of Freespace II. We have been responsible for net-radio programs, and have toyed with our own FPS game- Friendly Fire. Through each Division, and througout every year, dark and bright alike, the SSC has grown together, matured together, and progressed into the multi-level organization it is today.
In truth, the SSC has in these last years grown to become more than a clan, a fleet, or the like- it has become it's own interwoven and diverse culture. We have suffered deaths, rejoiced at marraiges and announcements of children, walked along side as memebrs have faced some very dark days. It has become a family, joined by the Ideals and by each member's commitment to making the most out of our time on the net. It's been an interesting and inspiring story, and we've only just begun.
The Eve Online Division of SSC was founded a little over 2 weeks after release in May of 2003. Our Corporation strives for individual freedom and corporate unity- sometimes a very delicate balance. The Ideals, as with any division, apply and are maintained. We work towards our goals of protecting the innocent from pirates and player killers and remaining a productive and growing corp.
