Instead of implamenting a queue idea for skills, why not just have the trained skill start training the next level in the skill until the player changes it. If the player ignores the skill to the point where the character trains that skill to level 5, then the training should stop.
Reasoning: (1) I don't like the idea of a queue, as it enables people to set their queue and not play. I'd rather hope CCP would implement solutions to encourage people to play, not just log in every once in a while.
(2) The big positive I see from this system is it helps alleviate the issue of "lost" skill points. But it doesn't go so far as the issue in #1.
(3) As far as I know code, and programming, I imagine it is also easier to add a few more arguments to the existing object, then to create a whole new system and UI. Ergo, isn't it easier to implement a modification to the existing Skill display, as opposed to creating a new UI for a queue system? I'd love for this element to be argued out.

Edited by: Ayla Vanir on 11/03/2006 00:36:36 Check out the On the Drawing Board (iirc) section of the site. CCP has assigned at least 1 or more staff to further develop the idea/implementation of either a) skill queing the next box of a given skill or b) concurrent long/short term skill training (with progress pro-rated between the two skills concurrently trained, as I understand it). Whether either concept makes it to the live server is anyone's guess at this point.

Basically its supposed to fix training of very long skills. Take Battleship V as an Intaki, with base stats it would take me well over 97 days to complete it.
Now lets say I have a skill such as Engineering 4 its going to take 6 hours to train. I wouldn't mind training BS V and Engineering 4 along side it, basically it would take 12 hours now for Engineering 4 but I would gain 6 hours training time on BS v
My sig needs some color in it. |
