Since it will not effect the main server, can we have access to all faction stuff within the test server so we are able to experiment more setups for our ships?
This would encourage more usage of the test server and may ensure more rigorous testing of up and coming patches for which is what CCP would want.
This would hopefully ensure that the after effects of the last patch would be reduced.
Also I would be able to try non-standard set ups to see how effective they are instead of risking it within the main server.
Thankyou

When everybody flies around with Estamel's invuln fields and gank-ravens with estamel's launchers who is gonna test the t1 sieges and hardeners?
Altho it would be nice for like 2 mirrors to try that ^^

Edited by: Ina Zimov on 11/03/2006 07:26:37 true if everyone had the chance they would only fly titans on the test server. wheres the point in that? but yes i agree perhaps all skills train in say 5 days no matter how long they 'should' be that way people still have to use the lower end stuff

Sorry. Meant to say no fast improvements to skills. Just the ability to use the faction gear that you are skilled to use at that moment.
For me it would be to try out testing a setup for a (mining security/anti npc BS) BC setup that I was thinking about. Also setting up a Interceptor setup with either autos or artillery would be good.
For me it would be used to test things out more by including the faction stuff. It would be the 'try before you buy' method to ensure that the price you are paying for them is worth the bang you get fromn them.

You used to be able to insta-train skills too. But it turned out, as peopel say, that everyone trained up for the biggest baddest ships and just sat on fight club all the time without actually testing anything.
Now, CCP want people to go about their daily lives (tm), so so that sort of insta-leetness isn't available.

"Uber implant" solution won't have this problem because: a) regular mirrors. So everyone will be reset to TQ state from time to time, including skills. b) they won't insta train, they will only reduce training time significally. Thus not all players will be able to train for uberest ships, but many (most?) players will be able to quickly train for some new content before next mirror.

Speak for yourself. I have no interest in Titans because with the price they would sell at and the number that would be available on TQ, I'll probably never get to fly one anyway. I already have a BS which is big and slow enough for me, I don't want to go even slower. All I am after is direction to decide whether a Hac or Covert Ops or some low end ship is what I nede to aim for. I think many of us would actually be realistic.

I think everyone has their lil version how they would want sisi to be like, And I am sure one thing everyone would agree to tho. able to login, server being up. (had to mention it )
having access to items I may not see or be able to get on traq I wouldn't like, I would not be able to realisticly be able to test. that would be spoiling me, and then I would find myself always playing on Sisi rather then on traq.
I am curious tho, those faction items, they can still be gathered in the same way in Sisi as in Traq ? or are they just not there on Sisi?

well from what I have seen in the past, was .. just as Ina Zimov reply. I would go to the fightclub build a set up, then go out to test it, problem was, I had a frigate . . and everyone else had BS, I on the other hand had no skills to pilot a BS, so no matter my pleas for someone to help test my set ups, fightclub was very boring for me. my interest were more as like yours Drizit. I pretty much use Sisi to see if I can recreate a possiable bug I may have incountered on Traq, or build my skills in another direction, to see that "what if I trained this skill" if it would be plausable to start it sooner then planned. AND THEN it sure would be nice to speed up that "what if I trained this skill" , but I am sure most PPL would be doing is just getting the biggest and not really testing, but there are a few of use that would use it correctly that are there for testing.

The test server is not for testing your setups for use on the live server. It is for hunting bugs.
While I agree that it would get more people on the test server, I don't think that those that are looking to improve their pvp and pve setups will contribute that much to bug testing. Sure they might find something wrong with weapons, but not because they went looking for it.
But I do wish they would seed faction ships because they are just as likely to have bugs and bonus application problems than anything else in the game.
And on the subject, please seed the RMR introduced ships devs. ------

So if they seed faction ships, are you going to spend days or even weeks waiting for the skill training to complete so you can actually fly them?
It's the same with the new ships that are introduced, more skills means time to train which isn't always possible given that Sisi is occasionally backed up from Tranq and would scrub all your training time in a single day. Also those bonuses are given on skills so you are going to train even further to enable you to see those bonuses having an effect? Since testing and patcvhday are often so close as we saw with the blood patch, it won't be possible to train fast enough to actually make any difference.
Since it's not just ships that they introduce, it's new mods, don't you think that those of us who want to test setups won't wonder if the new mods would be better and train for them to test them out on our setup? The new mods get tested just the same but on ships that are already available instead of the uber new ships that are being introduced that everyone wants to jump into.
Finally, what happens to existing mods? Do they not still need testing since a bug is pretty fickle and doesn't always show up right away. If I use a way out setup for my ship because that setup serves a particular purpose for me, one of the existing mods may object to having x number of another mod alongside it and create a bug that nobody has seen before simply because they have never tried to use a setup like that before. Using one or two of that mod has never made any difference but I suddenly put 3 beside it and a bug rears it's ugly head. If that bug suddenly gave me uber one-shot-kill guns or invulnerable shields, do you really want a bunch of noobs in low end frigs roaming around 0.0 blasting everything with impunity cos someone else found the bug too and had all their buddy's ships fitted that way?
Unlike some others, I'd report it because it would mean the end of eve as we know it by allowing it to remain unchecked. People would destroy your POS and gank your entire fleet just cos they can. Eventually, everyone would have that setup and PVP would be the first thing to die and next would be all semblance of law in empire, making it totally impossible for noobs to join the game.
Hey, there's a noob ship... Bang... He's coming out the station again... Bang... And again... Bang. (Noob logs off and doesn't return).

Hey, there's a noob ship... Bang... He's coming out the station again... Bang... And again... Bang. (Noob logs off and doesn't return).
This reminds me of early eve. Pirates camping mara killing newbies in the hundreds, to the extent that the devs one day had to go there themselfs in battleships to chase them off (battleships were very rare those days). It was possible because there was no sentries, if i remember correctly. Also, it was possible to create massive lag using jetcans (no timer existed, so many could be produced fast). Just one of the bugs that probably turned alot of people away from the game.
Another one was ganking at jumpin-spot. Nothing you could do really.. your ship would get destroyed while the system was loading on your client. People lost many ships this way. Also made people turn away from the game. Working hard for a battleship and then losing it to this was just too much.
Not sure what i wanted to say with this.... but it felt good to think about "the old days". =)
Edit: And oh, 10x damage modifiers on cruiser railguns. Got almost insta-popped in my thorax by another cruiser....

Edited by: Medici on 12/03/2006 13:09:04 I would like to see Cybernetics set to 5 automatically,or very fast train, for all players on Sisi, also +5 Skill implants at 100 Isk seeded. Also when will the Drug/Chemical boosters be coming into effect,Kali? These could also be seeded at 100 Isk,in which case players could just buy a boatload of them and speed through the training they most need for testing. Considering all progress made on Sisi is wiped when its mirrored, don't see how there can be any problems with this system?

You guys still shy away from what is important .
Load on SISI.
Why ? Because 'IF' there was load on sisi then we would have likly not had to bear days of unstable TQ.
So i agree with Ina and the other posters here who say; Give every one mach 3 training speed.
Then if they want to duke it out in dreads well so be it. Some of us to actually appreciate the opitunity to use the test server and i appluad ccp for making it public.
I personaly would try and build an outpost then destroy it with the biggest ship i could find. Im sure in the process there will be pleanty of bugs so where is the problem.
In a nut shell what im saying is this; Let people run rampant on sisi doing what they like. Thoese who are dedicated to Bug hunting will find them and the others, might cause bugs to become prevelant enough that valar finds them when he returns from the pub up the road.
And as a deterence from using sisi insted of TQ well you guys already know what that is. leave the server down for days and days and crash it regularly
Sorry had to put that in.

the way the server is run atm is best. it allows/forces people to test stuff at their levels. if everyone was training for a dread and someone at ccp messes up something simple like 'the kestrel now has a 34534534534& damage boost' and nobody to fly it.... how would it get tested?
imagine the hell on tq after that release...

This scenario may well be true for some. But it would also solve one problem. That is, would it be viable to pay out all that money for those modules for your ship when your cap, powergrid or cpu will not handle it. Also a smart person would try to get away with the least expensive modules which give the most benefit.
It all depends on what the person wants to get out of the situation.
The test server is obviously their too find bugs. But they need people to use it to find them.

This is also a good scenario. However if their are no people on the test server. Then this would get through anyways.
All I wanted was to have access to the gear for the ships that you have available at the time. I do not believe in fast tracking skills. It would have no point in supporting your characters in the main server.
So for the above example. The noob player who wanted to setup a speed or a ew kestrel would have found it out. However it does not mean that the player would tell anyone though

I'd rather have them to give people the skills for t2 battlecruisers for instance when they want you to test em. Like they did with barges. Pretty stupid when they were going to add t2 BC's, no1 cud test them. Coz they were not seeded. And if they would people would not have the required skills.
