This is just my opinion and I wanted to see what other people think, but I would say yes. It seems to me, and I am by no means a veteran player, that CCP are more interested in promoting the industrialist and the capatalist than the free roaming adventurer. Take for example the Miner II's. From what I've heard they were all but given to a certain corp but had these aactualy been placed in obscure systems it would of promoted adventuring in a way that currently seems to be lacking. With the exception of mining there seems to be little point in exploaring many of the low space sectors in the game as the risks outweigh the gains, therefore rendering them useless. By all means make these systems less secure but the rewards would make such risks worth it. I say to CCP that to readress the balance between the industrialist/capatilist & adventurer, place the BP's for some of the new techs in places that require you to have to work to get them. Just my opinion but I'd like to hear others, see if anyone agrees with me.

They are supposed to come into play with higher level agents, mobile refineries, jump drives and Battleship pirates in the next few patches.

I would like to pitch in and say that the adventuring part of the game is very appealing to me. I hope they expand upon it.

Edited by: Koda on 08/09/2003 19:04:24 I remember reading before the game went retail that the universe would start out with 2,000 systems but would be expanded by exploration to 5,000.
I haven't counted the systems in game now, but I would be surprised if there were more than 2,000 of them.
If CCP is sticking to this plan then exploration will again be a factor as new regions open up (Jove space?).

I would love to see more adventuring aspects and exploring avenues.
Perhaps some exploring ships maybe weak on weaponry but quick and well armoured ....

What's wrong with a Vigil for exploring?
It'll get you anywhere fast.
If you want to explore 0.0 asteroid belts just eject from the Vigil, bookmark the spot, and warp into the belt in your capsule.
NPC never attack capsules.
Same goes for finding spawn points - capsules are your friend.

Hopefully the GMs sit their asses down out in deep space with something interesting in their holds and wait for the right group or individual to come along.

no a high level miner 5 rare drop was given to a person to be precise.
and then a miner 2 bp was GIVEN to a corp to replace it.
then an event was held so everyone forgot about it. --

Wasn't the Miner II a very good example of a "adventure"? People had to kill jovian ships to get them, mmkay? Isn't that quite a big adventure? =) To find the jovians and attack and kill them.

There will be other tech II items introduced to other corporations than the now benefitted and the miner II will be forgotten...

On this I would like to make two points. I did not mention the corp by name because I'm not in full possesion of the facts and also I did not want to cause offense. Hell I wouldn't of turned down an offer of free level 2 tech but thats not the point. The point is you should have to work for it by trying to discover it. However, I do think that the situation will be improved once (if)they introduce the ability to sell bookmarks. Then there is an incentive to go out and find rare pirate spaw spots and/or mineral rich systems. Unfortunatley selling the information by word of mouth as it is at the moment is too open to abuse.

Basically adventuring is dead anyhow, unless you have the millions to pay to get past the megacorp pirates that own the outer most regions... then as I understand it, they kill you anyways. To place new items in these "adventurous" areas is basically giving new tech to these game killing phenomena players.
I am pretty sure that the biggest bulk of CCP's money making, the thousands of players not allowed to play in these "adventurous" areas, are sick of the game being catered to the very few. I am certain that they most likely have this in mind.
As for adventuring being dead, I would of loved to of roamed around Eve. After three months of playing this game all I have ever seen is just bearly right outside of Empire Space. I can't afford a new BS everytime from blatant murder by overwhelming odds just for wanting to look a few jumps out further. I won't afford to pay to look and I would definately never join such a scheme. These schemes hurt the game pointlessly.
To continue to give these game killing phenomena players the latest techs will obviously kill this games new players sticking around for longer then the month trial.

Kerry, it's not that bad. You are exhagurating. There are lots of places you can visit who are not controled by any mega corp or alliance. And you don't get blown up as soon as you stick your nose outside Empire space. And why don't you just team up with a few guys and go exploring? The possibilities are endless, it's just your attitude that you think you can't get past the guarded gates that stops you. Or why don't you just take a shuttle and explore with. It's fast and doesn't cost much if you do get blown up.

Kerry and others who are unsure about safe travel.
If you wish to travel safely into low security, it isnt as hard as you think.
Heres what i do, if you want to go hunting NPCs.
Put all your guns and things in your cargo hold, fit a couple of MWDs and medium capacitors in your med slots, and in low fit some cap rechargers, run the blockades into these these systems. (very easy with this setup)
If you just wish to explore, keep this setup, if u wish to go hunting, fit on all your guns and leave your mwds and capacitors in the station and fit them for your journey home.
This has made my hunting life alot more fun and safer, i am also now able to get to these systems alot quicker, meaning alot less wasted time.
