Is it just me or is the game somehow a lot more stable.
I haven't CTD'd, crashed, nothing since I got back from my weekend trip last night. No lag either.
Didn't have to patch, so I am wondering why this is or IF it is just magical luck on my part (knocking on wood).

Edited by: Erty on 08/09/2003 14:52:59 Well, that's simply how the game client is. It doesn't crash when things works with the servers. Right now the servers works acceptable, and therefore you don't crash.
The recent weeks CTD's and node drops were almost all because of the servers, and the internet as a whole (msblaster, sobig.f etc.). If you play CS you get "connection problems" if something happens to the server or your connection. EVE simply kicks you out to desktop. Maybe not the best solution
So the client itself is very stable (or well, stable enough), and therefore you don't have to patch it to get rid of the nasty things like lag and CTD's :)

I think the real problem is the ****ty european internet backbones. I lived there for 18 years, I KNOW.
Start a pool and get some ******* fiber in that piece. You all have tiny countries anyhow.

No, I don't think you know what you're talking about. London (where the servers are) has very good backbones now days not as pumped as America but it certainly ain't poor and certainly more than there was 18 years ago. You have a tiny brain, anyhow.

This post is a joke right? Have a look at saturday and the lag posts of yesterday.
The servers have been up for four hours and you havn't had a problem so everything is perfect now.
Amazing. Maybe now that mars is moving away the problems will go away.

Hey, my brain is NOT tiny. I just don't use most of it.
Also: Jackass, if europe had better neworking capabilities (namely widespread cable, or using the powergrids) the Eve dev team could raise the LAME cap on the clients download speed.
now go tie your nuts from the branch and jump off the tree.

cao-cao, if i remember u r up around jan/obe etc mostly.... correct me if i am wrong but last nigth all the action was in fd and then down the fountain. I had 6 CTDs yesterday following downtime, and was around these VERY heavily populated and active regions, over 100 ships attempting combat on occasion.
I would suggest u didn't CTD as the main server bult action was down on another switch, whereas I was on the same switch as the action and was CTDing all over the place.
Things have crtainly improved, as since the sensor booster fix, I havent had a single CTD until yesterday.

The cap is more likely CCP can't afford the bandwidth more than it isn't there. We have wide-spread cable & DSL FYI. Got it every place they do in America, you can't get cable out in the stick there, can't here either, although, there's BOATS with a sat connection all over. Don't try talking about this because you dunno what you are talking about, you may have lived here for 18 years but you obviously aren't intelligent enough to have worked in IT so our networking capabilities would be unknown to you.

My stability story is a mixed bag. I have two computers sharing a cable connection.
One is a storebought 2.0 Ghz P4 with XP pre-installed, the RAM kicked up (768 Mb) and a Radeon card. The other is my friend's home-built Athalon 1600 with a GeForce 3, nearly a gig of RAM also running XP.
The stability between the two is night and day. The P4 NEVER crashes unless it's server side. The Athalon goes down every 10 minutes to an hour.
Anyone know if Eve has any processor/graphic card preferences?
