Hello so I am back in eve. since I wont have much time to play I want to focus on learning proper pvp. My main character 40m SP has a lot of PVE and Mining skills, crosstrained T1 ships small T2, also decent exploration trade and good standings with npc amarr corps.
I started this character to reintroduce myself to eve, I am not sure if I should keep going with this one and left the other for solo, high sec, industrial stuff or what I dont have much time to spend on eve so I am worried my 40mSP might be a bit too much. On the other hand semi perfect fitting and primary skills may be in my advantage specially because I would like to use small amarr ships, punisher and executioner to start with and I have read that a low skilled amarr frigate is really not very good overall.
It is also true I love the badass looking of this oder khanid character, the other one is amarr and it looks abit like a carebear lol. |

You want to trow away a 40 mil character because it looks like a care bear? That's 3 years of work and because you're also relearning the game you want to trow that away?
- There is an option in account management where you can change your characters face, costs a PLEX if you're that vain. - But if you really want to go through the pain of relearning 40 mil in skill points, check the forum character bazaar, selling your "care bear" would give you a few bil. in Isk to get you going for a while.
But honestly, would never be my choice. |

Although it can be fun building a new character a lot of the 40m SP will be useful for PvP - without seeing your skills I would assume a lot of navigation, ship skills etc will be useable and that will significantly reduce the amount of skilling you have to do.
Of course one option would be to just use the new alt character for PvP and slowly skill it up whilst using the original character to pay for the PvP either through industry, PI or build up to a trader - the last two could bring passive income with little time investment ....at least you haven't lost all that time - or as the previous poster said, sell the character and it can fund your PvP habit for a while. Personally I'd keep the character as you never know what may happen and you could come to regret losing those 40 m SP. |

This. Use the older character to bankroll the new character.

Sell the character if you want to PVP only. However, you may find yourself regretting losing that solid PVE/mining base.

Just go through the training missions again with either that character or another. That will get you back into it.

I would never get rid of my main 40m sp character. I am just wondering if it would worth creating a fresh PvP only char to have fun with frigs and cruisers. Another option is making a high sec miner trader and use my 40m char to PvP. But I wonder how much I am going to spend in clones alone. |

The skill sheet looks carebear but your alternative is grinding a year of support skills to no instant gratification. Keep that character to work with, start farming a focused PVP one that satisfies the OCD within. Start with INT-MEM cybernetics V and 9 months of getting all V support to that PVP char ^^
EDIT: you can change the face if it doesn't please you. |

You should keep your char. You already have the basic navigation, engineering maybe more skills. They can be very long to train, since you won't have much time to play, don't waste it. Use a remap to focus on perc/will and give it a few weeks to train the most important skills. |

Use the older char and do a character recustomization. In fact you might even have a free one if you have a character that old. Try to click the mirror in Captain's Quarters and see if it asks you if you want to resculpt your character.
It might be worth it if you really wanted to change race but change and Amarr guy for one with 40m less sp ? Come on. No matter where those SP are spent at least some are bound to give you an edge. |

Just play with the old character and skill train whatever you want. I don't get this bankroll another character thingy as it seems like a waste of time.
Unless you were a spy and/or being actively hunted, I really can't see why you wouldn't play the established character.

You likely have a lot of the base skills trained, navigation, electronics, mechanics, etc. Load up a copy of evemon and figure it out. You're likely better off training your current toon to pvp with. |

Freakdevil wrote:I really can't see why you wouldn't play the established character. Hello it is the 40m SP character here. When you stop playing for years you feel kinda disconnected from your character, when you have to replay the tutorial, when you dont understand what they mean with terms like "kite"... you wonder if your character is sort of overqualified to play pvp. I dont think a 50m SP has more fun than a 5m SP it really depends on you. And the bills in clones are going to be serious.
That being said waiting for Hull Upgrades V, Turrets V etc V is a pain. |

My recommendation is not give a rat's ass what other people think. If you like your old toon, keep him, restructure him, refocus him, do whatever you want, but don't let his current build bother you. People like to poop on "unfocused" skillsheets, but only when you're trying to sell a character. You're not selling, rather, you're playing, so screw them.
On the other hand, if you like clean starts, embrace that instead. |

Umm you could start a new char. I did and this is my reasoning. Mainly clones cost less, but then that depends on your pvp SP goals. Mine is proficient with destroyers, good with frigs and ewar. So doesn't have 20M+ SP clone dumps every time things go bad. My other char (this one) bankrolls making some 30+M/hr.... which is almost enough in one hour to outfit disposable destroyers for a month hah. I'd say keep training what you have and drop in some PLEX a few months to train your pvp char at the same time (you can train x2 on 1 account now). I mean if you have limited time, you will probably have more fun and the ISK to fly frigs and/or destroyers, so anything bigger you probably wont have the time to support as well. |

Q1) Yes - it's a lot of fun.
Q2) Nah - use old character to fund Q1.
Good luck on your return - there is a lot of enjoyment to be had out there |
