Edited by: K24Q on 08/09/2003 16:23:58 Why? This great expanse of a universe is the most benevolent and hospitable place that has ever existed. Why are they no galatic bodies emmitting gamma rays or giant clouds collecting static etc...
I would like to see some more variance in the enviroment, with enviroment interacting with the pilots in space and not simply acting as scenery. As the game stands at the momment there only two things a player has to be aware of NPC pirates/security and other Players, there is no other risk in the game.
Freelancer showed some enviroment interaction, there was one system where the local star was emmitting radiation which gave constant damage to you ship and you had to manage repairs and shield if you ever wanted to mine Diamonds from the red hot asteriods orbiting the star, that was cool that added more risk. Its so easy to implement in this game, the damage types already exist; radiation as emp damage, Red giants deal Thermal damage, Micrometorites dealing kinetic damage. The damage system could easily be placed system wide (local damage inflicting areas maybe more intesive).
I dont want every system to be hard and gritty but think of the situations that now have new flavour move you hauler through this system (saving 3 jumps) but can you do it before to much damage is deal? System where you shields are dirputed so you have only your armour if you get in a fight. Having to setup a mining cruiser and a friend in a indy sporting cap booster and shield linking system so you can survie the harsh enviroment and mine the pay dirt etc. I cant see this been to hard to implement but definitly adding to the game. Thanks for you time please disscuss

I know your logic, space is hostile place without other humans tryin to attack you. However, you have to understand after 20k years of technilogical bliss you would think most of the spacial envirment factors has been resolved. I do think the random "Black Hole" or "SuperNova" would be very nice to see. especially if you can see it anywhere in the EVE universe. It should be a rare event, BUT, it should happen. From Ashes to Ashes... From Dust to Dust....

To be realistic, it should be rare on a scale of once, somewhere in the EVE universe, every million years, or even less rarely :D
Be nice from a gameplay point of view, though. Depends if you wish to err on the side of gameplay or realism.

At least they should implement stars that deal thermal damage when you get close so i can send a bestower full of corpses into a star as a burial ship.

It's been suggested many times before, nebulas, solar winds, meteor showers but as is now they first priority is to make the game stable enough for 5k players, then on to say 25k, from there on we could expect to see these things in the game.
