Keep us posted, I'm a big fan of Herko's work and I especially love his exerts on our tribes history.
Especially when so many of my family heirlooms are sitting in my sisters holdings atm...

Thanks to all the pilots who have shown an interest both here on GalNet and elsewhere.
Marie Trudeau has kindly volunteered to contribute to this lecture as well. This means that Herko Kerghans will be presenting for the first part and Marie Trudeau for the second. Each will be providing an insight in to the early history of the Caldari from a rather different viewpoint.
The name of the FTL communication channel in which the lecture will take place is our special lecture channel called: HallofSpeakers.
This channel is currently reserved for private tuition for Academy students. It will be made accessible to the public on the day of the lecture.

Unfortunately the Academy will not be able to provide a slide pack of information prior to the lecture as previously advertised. I had been in contact with a different scholar to Marie and Herko who was in possession of a large data collection on this subject on which the slide pack was going to be based.
That scholar and the data collection have both disappeared and the Academy is currently pursuing all leads. Never the less the lecture will go ahead as previously advertised.

I'll be sure to prepare a brief summary of my part; to be included either here or by distribution by e-mail depending on complexity, aprox 24 hs before the presentation.

I would be most interested in hearing, Mr. Kerhans. However I do not know if I will be able to tune in, so a transcript would be greatly appreciated.

May I point out that you invited a pirating subject, who kills Gallente, their ships and their crews to get back at them for the Gallente-Caldari war?
A subject that is sought by Concord and law-abiding citizens, with a security rating of -7.3 and dropping and a bounty of over 12 Million Isk?
And you call him a 'noted scholar' instead of a more proper term plus give him a forum to spread his beliefs?
What kind of Academy are you, if I may ask?

An Academy who invites lecturers for their knowledge-base, not their reputation I'd wager.
Herko's..."agenda" aside, he's an educated man.

Don't worry ... I'll be offering another perspective on things during the same lecture.
And although Mr. Kerghans is indeed a notorious outlaw, I've always known him to be knowledgeable on a variety of matters, and I'm sure people will find his remarks interesting. ---------------------------

Indeed, it is heartening to find that not all educational establishments are subject to the whims of an external morality and, instead, place an emphasis on knowledge.
I wish you luck with your lectures.

Given the reputation of your speaker, it is a wise choice to host this using FTL comms. If he had appeared in person, I might have been inclined to start shooting, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that respect.
Still, I'd like to hear what the villainous wretch has to say.

Most of the ships we fly are equipped with turrets and launcher hardpoints, Mr. DeAngeluotti. We all have blood on our hands.
You are always welcome to participate in the question-and-answer session that will proceed after the presentation; if you frown upon physical violence, what better than to do battle in the field of ideas?
Furthermore, the organizer of the seminars, Mr. Tomasi, is well aware that objective truth is beyond any single person. For that reason and as pointed above, an additional view (and I can almost guarantee opposed, at least in certain aspects) will be provided by Mme. Trudeau.
Rest assured that nobody will leave the presentation feeling he or she has just heard 'THE' truth, be it from outlaw or law-abiding citizen; just different versions of it.
Originally by: Wanoah ...what the villainous wretch...

Quite a few people in southern Amarr would agree it is indeed a fitting description for some of us.
But to your question: yes, indeed an FTL channel will be provided by Mr. Tomasi, to ease the travel impairments speakers and/or attendants may have.
Originally by: Lillith Blackheart ...a transcript would be greatly appreciated.
Mr. Tomasi will have the final word on that issue, since the transcripts will be his property. That being said, in principle I see no problem with producing a summary after the presentation, with the main topics covered.
If you have a specific question on the subject, perhaps you can get in touch with Mr. Tomasi for him to include it in the Q&A list, too.

I'll join my sister for this I believe. It's something close to home, but one feels that Mr Kerghans has a slightly biassed view on Thukker history. Still, time will tell.

Just to clarify a few points.
First of all I would like to thank Mr Kerghans for offering to produce a slide-pack at such short notice. The Academy is nearing completion of its investigation in to the missing data and will produce its findings at more convenient time.
The term 'noted scholar' was in reference to Mr Kerghans knowledge of early Caldari megacorporation history. That he is clearly not a law abiding citizen is not in dispute.
These lectures have been set-up to promote understanding of the history, cultures and politics of the empires. Mr Kerghans is not being compensated in any way for his time and, as has already been stated elsewhere, Mme Trudeau has been invited to provide a different perspective on the subject matter.
These lectures are in the public domain in accordance with the Academy's ideals of promoting freedom of information. They will be hosted in the Academy FTL special lecturing channel: HallofSpeakers that will be made accessible to the public. The Academy does not consider the transcripts of any public lectures to be its property, although it will keep an archive of them to forward to interested parties.
Thank you for the interest shown to date, I hope that this support will continue in future public lectures. Fly safe,
Monty Tomasi

Even the most basic industrial has a turret hardpoint, does that mean every hauler has blood on their hands? That every mining barge with a drone bay capiable of holding combat drones has dipped thier hands in the life of another and taken it?

If they use those turrets or drones to shoot and destroy another ship, then I would argue that yes - they do have blood on their hands. Space is a pretty brutal place at times and the question of whether shots are fired in self-defence or not, in a given scenario, is a matter that is open to debate.
Perhaps you would like to sign up as an independent lecturer for the Floating Academy and present a public (or private) seminar on the moral maze of what constitutes firing in self-defence?

Below, a brief summary of the topics to be covered by myself during the presentation; a more extended summary will be posted a few days after the presentation & discussion.
Caldari Megacorporations - Present and Past.
The Megacorporations:
Practicals: Sukuuvestaa, CBD, Nugoeihuvi Liberals: Ishukone, Hyasyoda Patriots: Kaalakiota, Lai Dai, Wiyrkomi
"They look like..."
"...a Gallente corporation": Megacorps as business units. Similar in almost every sense.
"...a Matari Tribe, or an Amarrian Heir House": Megacorps as the pillars of the political structure.
Similarities: -Private armies, like the Amarrians.
Differences: -No racial difference, as opposed to Minmatars -Not fixed number, as opposed to both Minmatars and Amarrians
The Caldari difference: -Lack of Head of State.
The Caldari way: Although the corporations have in theory dictatorial powers, they are just as bound by Caldari customs and laws as the individual, and the fierce, continual competition between the corporations ensures a healthy, consumer-based social environment, which benefits everyone.
Past: -Before the Gallente came: Perkone and the Industrial Age. -The Gallente contact: economic exploitation, the Age of Trade, and Kaalakiota -The Debt: space flight. -The Payment: stargates and warp drives. -What's yours is mine: the Pre-Fed Caldari colonies -Terrorists and Government: blockade, Nouvelle Rouvenor, orbital bombing. -The Morning of Reasoning: when everything changed. -Setting an example: the Fed's refusal to sign peace. -The Amarrian debt, and the modern balance.
