i have noticed a lot of my fellow scumbags use a tempest to pirate with. Anyone know the best pilots with these awesome ships?

would be my choices but are there any more out there?

I reckon Hygelac is a pretty damn good Tempest pilot... though he's upgrading to a Nag atm

ye a tempest is truely a very good ship, for piracy.
the speed combined with the 5 med slots.
i think tenacha out grown the tempest. he flies a navy megathron atm

2 other Tempest pilots whos names come to mind would be "s4xon" from flashman, and "Rocky Spaceman" vogon Deconstruction Fleet.

Ofc Tenacha/Chode/Sun Ra come to mind, I believe Fedaiykin Naib's meant to be pretty good as well. And Ryan Routine's meant to tear it up pretty effectively.

Actually i got into flying tempest cos Xpohoc(sp?) pwned my raven on chaos with one so ye stick him down too tho maybe he flys ravens more?

When I started playing ~2 years ago XpoHoc was the tempy pilot people were talking about. I also have to mention my CEO Rosiepoo or he will spank me.. >_<

Alot of Mafias older pilots use them... try Skywalker, the best pest pilot I've seen.

Kind of off topic, but what do you guys think of the autopest vs the blasterthron, for solo/small gang work? How big is the dps difference? I'm trying to decide what path I want to go down but its hard to make a decision without much long-term experience. This are my views so far:
Autopest
Pros: long falloff range, capfree guns, 5 mids, varied damage types
Cons: ammo usage, weaker tank/damage
Blasterthron:
Pros: tons of damage, large drone bay,
cons: cap issues, hard to fit

I dont fly tempest, Im training the skill atm to fly vindi, but I wouldnt be caught dead an actual tempest.
Which is better, tempest or mega?
Tbh, they are pretty equal..but
Navy mega > Fleet tempest
Vindicator > Machariel
With good skills and the right fitting, megathron doesnt really run into major cap issues. Also the fact that you can use ecm drones or a bunch of heavys to offset the therm/kin only dmg is a real positive in my books

well... well...
the machariel can adjust its range.. and ofc its a must to fit a mwd.. even though some machariel pilots think an ab is enough
so just keep at 25 ish from a megathron.. if you have time to get out of web range ofc

I know they are looking into blasters atm so maybe the blasterthron will pwn once again but atm go for the tempest.

I think he still has the highest wrecking shot in the history of BS.
Also hobblins new char wizie is 4tw w/ pests.
But pests are sooooo boring to fly compared to a blasterthron.

Rasta Rocketman, and Fedaykin are the best auto tempest pilots I've seen in action. There is some other guy that used to be in shinra I think that was very good, but I can't remember his name. Lots of other guys in this list are good I'm sure, but I've never really seen them in action.

You're right about the Megathron, there's really no easy way to fit it. It takes work and lil thinking. But somehow I always manage to do it anyway, and imo do good job at it. The tempest has however no cpu problems and with Advanced Weapons Upgrades lvl5, you can save one lowslot which you would be using for a pg upgrade.
However, with both ships having their pros and cons I do think they are somewhat similarly good as a shortrange boat. However, when fighting in small groups the best combo will always be a Scorpion + either of the two, Temp or Mega. Jamming + dmg = 4tw.
When it comes to fitting a good blasterthron the key is to let go of the afterburner/mwd, as even though you could use the speed, you dont really need it. Instead you make a better overall fitting for the ship.
And my vote goes to Shamis Orzoz being the most scary tempest pilot I've fought.

Golgrath is indead evil. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't ever get a head of him in solo kills on the old [5] KB. Nor did I ever find a fitting to kill him, consitantly, with my domi.
