I put in the part about the battleships to catch your attention. It's true, but I'll get to them later.
First, the three first days.
Day one A friend set me up and showed me the ropes on his account. He also set me up with some starting ISK so I could get some skills and a Merlin right away. This was over at his place and when I got home I ran through the toturial. Holy s**t, that was boring. Especially whan you've already learnt the basics. The courier missions afterwards weren't much better. Who the hell does courier missions anyway. It's basically ISK for waiting.
My friend set me up with some starting ISK so I could get some skills and a Merlin right away. Onwards to security missions. Time to blow stuff up. I liked it, alot.
Day two Didn't take me long to realize that the two blasters I had on my ship weren't doing a fraction of the damage my two missile launchers did. When I was told that the missiles always hit too then it was a done deal. My next ship was a Kestrel. Aahhh yeah! Gotta love explosions. Did more security missions and started on the skills needed for Cruiser.
Lost my first ship too. My first Kestrel was blown away by some pirates in the Worlds Collide missions. I was under the impression that I couldn't warp out of deadspace so I tried heading for the acceleration gate when the pirates looked like they might win. Ah well, live and learn. Learn anyway :) Wasn't a big deal though, I already had more than enough money to replace the Kestrel.
Day three Did lvl 2 mission with the friend who set me up. He took out one of his destroyers and absorbed some fire while I blew the crap out of any pirate frigates. Worked like a charm. Very profitable. Put in a bid for a Caracal cruiser before I logged out for the night.
Day four Got my Caracal. Spent a while getting launchers for it. Trade blows in Kor-Azor. Not much else to outfit it with though. Pretty much all I have is cruiser, launcher and some learning skills. Oh well, at least I can use five assault missile launchers at once.
Did missons with another friend of mine. In his high-end battleship. Lvl. 2 missions in a 0.5 zone. He tanked while I ripped through frigates like wet tissue paper.
The battleship story: It happened on a five part important storyline mission. On the fifth and last part of it. We were heading into a deadspace complex. Bunch of frigates in the first room. Killed around 20 frigates and a Moa cruiser in the second. The killer guns on my friends battleship ripped through the Moa in three salvoes, while I did in the frigates. Pretty easy. (But then again, no one was targeting me. :))
We entered the last room. We where using Skype for communtication, btw. My friend entered first, as always. Over Skype I hear him say something that roughly translates as:
"Holy s**t!!" Then he started counting. All the way to 22.
"Cruisers?", I asked him.
"No, man. Battleships. 22 battleships."
Then my warp was done and I arrived in the deadspace room. 22 battleships, all hostile. Now, I can't remember what they all where called, but I remember that several of them apparently where high end named battleships. Ouch.
And in the end...we won the mission. No problem at all. Piece of cake.
Turns out the mission was completed after we blew up the tech 2 frigate nearest to us. The battleships didn't lock on until we'd killed him and we got the hell out of there. Mission complete. 700 000 ISK reward. But for a minute there, the sight of 22 battleships on the horizon, all hostile, had me quite worried for my new cruiser.
That's it. I'm going to blow up some more stuff now. Laters.

I had a destroyer my first day and a Caracal 4 days after that, so I don't see why not.
Welcome to EVE Mr Schmidt.

Welcome to eve man, glad you're enjoying it.
Note: Yes, very very possible to have a caracal in 4 days...roll a character with frig 4, train cruiser 1 and 2 in what, 9 hours total? In theory, you could have a caracal the first day.

Is that the one where you go through the last jump, see just about every Amarr Navy Battleship, then gum up your chair in Sh*t trying to warp out; only to find out later that you just had to kill some dinky frigate?
I loved that one. Got a new chair out of it

You need to do missions for normal agents, if you gain enough standing with one of the NPC corps a storyline agent will contact you via EvE-Mail.

"Human Kettle" is not a story line mission. it is a mission row with 5 stages.
U get them from security agents and iirc all 5 missions together bring a reward of about 2mil which is not bad for a lvl2 mission.
U get storyline missions when doing missions repeatedly. Watch your eve-mails for invitations.

REPLIES and the story of when I first got podkilled.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Looks like you have a great community going here.
Quote: Nice story, its good you werent stupid enough to shoot at the battleships like i did... hehe
They where out of range
Quote: Welcome to EvE-Online thou. Btw, have you ever felt the pleasure of ripping someone to pieces upclose with blasters
My first ship, the Merlin, had two blasters and two launchers. I switched to the Kestrel because the blasters weren't really doing any significant damage. I figure I need some more skills to back it up before I go blaster.
The short range was also kinda fiddly to work with. I tried rockets with my Kestrel too, but, again, the short range ruined it for me. Looked great though.
Quote: Is that the one where you go through the last jump, see just about every Amarr Navy Battleship, then gum up your chair in Sh*t trying to warp out; only to find out later that you just had to kill some dinky frigate?
Yup, that's the one. Coolest mission so far.
Quote: Welcome to EvE :) If I where you I would stick with your cruiser for a while now and train up some other skills, otherwise you might get kicked arround by people who actually should be weaker than you.
Thanks. I have been training some other skills. I won't be in a battleship for a while anyway. Only a week left on my trial and I might not resubscribe right away. I'll have to see how much time The elder scrolls: Oblivion is gonna take. (only 6 days left )
Quote: Yes, yes, you are uber leet
Thanks, I know.
And now for the podkill story:
I was going to pick up a skill I had bought. I was watching TV and figured I might as well set the shuttle to go pick up my new skill.
When I returned to the comp I had pretty much forgotten that I had set the shuttle to autopilot. I checked the skill I was training. "hmm, not done yet. Must have miscalculated."
Checked my mail. "Huh? killed? wtf? maybe my friend has logged on my account and gotten me killed. what the hell."
Checked the date and time, noticed that there was no ship in the hangar I was watching.
oohhhh. I see. That's pretty funny.
I got podkilled, in a shuttle, by an Armageddon battleship, while afk, hovering in 0.2 space.
Oh well. Guess I should pay attention to where I'm going from now on (give or take a month or two). Guess they weren't kidding when they said playing while afk wasn't a good idea.
On the bright side, I was fully covered my my clone and had no implants, so I only lost about 40k ISK on the whole thing. And I got a Kill Right now. (granted my killers sec rating is so low it doesn't matter)
This was yesterday. Since then I've spent much time cackling with glee and plotting my devious revenge.

I took the same route later. Payed more attention this time. Trip went fine. Visited my dead, frozen body floating in space. Dang, my character is a fat bastard. 200kg. How do you loose weight in this game?

Nah what you do is subscribe and train up to the adv learning skills while you are hammering away on Oblivion. That way when you get back those are done and you can train stuff you really want much faster.
