"Productivity levels reduce your manufacturing time by 5 / ( 1 + PL)" <-- this makes no sense, the higher number PL gets to, the smaller that number gets i.e. 5/1 is larger than 5/2. It seems to me, the more you increase PL, the lower the decrease in time would be. I know this isn't the case, so could someone explain this to me.
On a side note, is there a way to search the forums?

you can search using the third party site, eve-search.com I think it is.
And the formula in the players guide is whoefully out of date. The actual formula looks something like PL/(PL+1)

That one doesn't make much sense, because that decrease would limit at 1, unless it's a cumulative sum, but that would make time efficiency research have increasing returns rather than decreasing.
The formula in the guide makes a bit more sense if it's a cumulative sum, but if it is, you can achieve a much better decrease than 5, that would actually start to limit itself around 50. Maybe the 5 was just a typo?

On almost all blueprints, it works like the material waste formula, except with a time wasteage factor of 0.25. I some blueprints (I believe the T2 components, if I'm remembering right), the TWF is 1/14, and on others (T2 missiles, I believe) it's 1/249.

Edited by: Thinman on 14/03/2006 01:07:36 I was thinking of it as time saved rather than time wasted, so a smaller percentage works.

Well, after spending the better part of the evening trying to figure this out, my brain is fried. I still don't get it.

Well, yeah, assuming you had infinte research, you'd be limited to 1 times whatever modifier they happen to be using for that particular item. Sorry, didn't actually read the player guide for that section since I was told it wasn't up to date, I assumed they told you the multiplier to use in there.

I actually just empirically added time research 1 to a print over and over and the gains diminish very much like material research. Beyond PE5 it slowed down, beyond PE10 it was at a crawl, as far as how much difference another level gave.
I give every bpo I own Time Efficiency Research 10. Seemed the point of diminished returns.
