What are is the most effective drone type for PvP in reference to Light Drones?
Combat drones or Electronic Warefare Drones?

Warriors are pretty popular but since there are 4 types of drone per class and they each deal a different type of damage (EM, thermal, kinetic, explosive), you have to use the one that's best for the type of ship you're shooting at, or carry several different types to match the situation, or just pick one and go with it, see what happens...

All the drones are slightly different. Assuming you can only fit 1 wave of drones I usually fit gallente because they have the highest damage mod and deal thermic damage which works equally well against shields and armor in general.
If you can fit multipule waves of drones then you can go with 1 wave of Amarr (EM) and Min (Exp). Just launch the right type for your target and you will get slightly better damage then the Gal (Therm).
You should also look seriously at the Ewar drones, they can be a beautiful addition to many ships. However that is very dependant on the ship you are flying.

when you talk about racial drones, you are referring to Fighters, right? I dont see any other racial drones.

It is mostly fed back from the drone specialization types. For example, ogre IIs require gallente drone specialization, Berserker IIs require minmatar drone specialization, etc. That is why people say that.

Gallente drones do thermal, Caldari do kinetic, Minmatar do explosive, Amarr do EM.
In terms of raw damage, it goes:
Gallente > Caldari > Minmatar > Amarr
In terms of speed/tracking, it goes:
Minmatar > Amarr > Caldari > Gallente
Gallente drones: Hobgoblin, Hammerhead, Ogre
Caldari drones: Hornet, Vespa, Wasp
Minmatar drones: Warrior, Valkyrie, Berserker
Amarr drones: Acolyte, Infiltrator, Praetor
Fighters are slightly different; all of them have the same raw damage over time, but varying, damage mods and rate of fires.

I tend to fit drones which do damage which is different than the type my ship does. For example, if I'm flying an amarr ship which does em/therm I will fit a combination of exp/kinetc drones.
Not sure if it's the best idea, but I figure doing all damage types with one ship can't hurt if you don't know what you will be going up against.

Im to lazy to switch drones to match the weakest resist of the enemy so i stick with big and powerfull (gallente ones). Their multiplier covers most resistance differences.
Lets take lights: 7.5 dmg
<name-modifier-total>
Accolyte 1.15 8.625 EM
Warrior 1.30 9.750 Exp
Hornet 1.45 10.875 Kin
Hobgoblin 1.60 12.000 Therm
So if i were to use EM drones they would have to have something like 25-30% more resists to therm than EM to make em usefull.
Ofc the Accolyte flies much faster and has better tracking to factor in; but my gall drones seem to hit ok and getting hit isnt relevent.

Depends, actually............
As a Gallente pilot, I use hybrids, which do kin/the damage. If I want to spread out my damage type, I'll pack 2 em/3 exp drones, so that I'm doing all damage types. Generally, I refuse to use kinetic drones, and tend to favor explosive, as exp is effective vs both shields and armor.
EW drones are special cases, and I'll only use them on ships which lack mids, like a Thorax/Deimos, which are already damage-heavy ships. But EW drones on a Domi or Ishtar is pointless, since both can fit EW easily, and tend to rely heavily on their drones for damage output.
Like I said, it depends........

imo hammerheads and orges are too slow and exp dmg ftw ;) i would always use warriers valks and berserkers on my ships because hybirds do enough kin/therm so its nice to deal 3 dmg types
