I'll start of by saying that I'm a complete WH newbie and that I know nothing at all regarding w-space
Let's assume me and a friend at my disposal want to do go in a class1 maybe class 2 wormholes together every now and then to do combat sites and whatnot.
Is this plausible and does it provide decent isk? How can we make the process as effective as possible? Would two t2 fitted drakes be good enough? Maybe even 1 drake and the other salvage? Or other suggestions? General advice?
thanks

Yes, that is entirely possible. A friend and I have breezed through C1 and C2 relic sites with a drake and a hurricane. If you loot and salvage the site you can make pretty good isk (Don't have exact numbers, as most our experiences were day trips where everyone just kept the loot they grabbed). If someone has a data/relic analyzer you can make a good deal more. Remember, sleepers don't have bounties, so if you don't loot the site, you'll come away empty handed.
That being said, there are plenty of dangers that must be dealt with. Without local, you have no idea who is there. As soon as you enter a wormhole, the first thing you should do is check long range D-scan and see who is nearby. If you see ships and you aren't ready for PvP, find another hole. The whole time you're in a WH, you should be constantly checking D-scan. If you see ships or combat probes, chances are you're being watched and hunted.
Also be advised that WH rats will neut you. It's not too bad in a C1/C2, but an active tank that isn't carefully managed can quickly be broken if you don't focus the neuting ships.
Make sure to bookmark the hole you came in. I can't count how many times I've made this mistake and had to scan it back down again. While this is usually just a minor nuisance, it can be a serious problem if you're trying to escape hostile players.
Finally, as always, don't fly anything you can't afford to loose. If you fly in wormholes regularly, you will lose ships. It happens. Just grab another and try again!
Good luck! |

Daytrips is a good way to test things before setting permanent presence in w-space. But remember that if you want to make more isk than from hi sec missions you have to go at leaset C2 with C3 static and set up pos. Up to C2 drake is perfectly ok but anything with enough tank to handle sites and more dps will make it faster. |

something like this https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=301913. For C2 you need around 400 tank which is most comfortably achieved on passive drake and as much dps as possible. |

if you have decent scanning skills (lvl 4) do you need a scan bonused ship or sisters probes, to scan down sites in a wormhole?
The limit of my experience has been puttering around in a cloaky and even then i typically only pop into the wormhole, have a look and then leave. |

biggest issue is that you have to loot and salvage the sites, do enough of them to make it worth your while, then get out in one piece.
Highly advisable to make use of the mobile depot so you can refit to do hacking or looting or scanning. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

This. You really want to run the sites as a pair for security and speed, but if you're solo, the mobile depot and mobile tractor units are godsends for speedy salvage & GTFO.
For C3 anoms, you really only need about 200DPS of tank in a battlecruiser. For data/relic sites, bump that up to 400. For C3 anoms, crank that up to about 600 (you'll read 740 DPS online; that's only if you're at a dead stop in a battleship or burning straight toward the sleeper battleships with a MWD which is stupid). For C3 data/relic sites, crank that up to about 1000. You'll mitigate a lot of damage by learning to manually fly and fitting an afterburner.
In fact, you can radically reduce the tank necessary by taking C2 anoms in an assault frigate. You'll zoom around at amazing speed, but take the site down fairly slowly due to your paltry DPS. A Scythe with an afterburner can tank a blown trigger in C3 anomalies with less than 200DPS of tank and good transversal. It's not hard-and-fast.
Starting safe with a Drake first, then working into new fits once you figure out what it takes to beat the sites is good advice :) It also gives you the high slots to refit to salvagers, and mid-slots to fit analyzers. Mobile Depot and MTU in the cargo hold, good security on the holes (most C2s have two static exits), and have fun to the tune of about 20M ISK per site.
L4 missions bring in better ISK than C2 salvaging, yes. Doesn't mean C2s aren't worth doing; they are FANTASTIC practice for higher-level wormholes, and for those who don't have access to level 4 missions they provide a steady income stream with minimal investment.
C3 anomalies run quickly bring in income very comparable to Incursions (100M ISK/hr). For the solo artist, C3 wormhole income in a T3 is a fine end-game. For the small group of sub-capital pilots, C4 is a little better, but not hugely so. C5 and C6 capital escalations provide unreliable but extreme income possibilities, typically something like 4Bn/hour... and huge competition for that resource in the form of mandatory, frequent PvP. |

This is true. I live in a C5 wormhole with a neighboring C3 that we raid on a consistant basis. I am the newbie so I don't have the skills to run C5 site but I do gas mining for isk. There are some gas sites that can net you 300m to 450m a site (if you get the real good ones) and the salvage from the C5 sites can run into the 700m+ isk.
But please please please, start out in a C1 or C2 and work on your scanning/combat skills. DO NOT do what I did and just jump into a wormhole corporation, since I am pretty useless here and do a lot of relying on corpmates/alliance members to get anything done (even clearing sleepers from C5 gas sites, they are super nasty). I am approaching 8m sp and still not close to being able to do anything remotely solo, but I am spoiled now and cannot live anywhere else but a wormhole.
Fly safe! o/

I'm going to slightly disagree there. I'd say jump into a wormhole alliance with a C1 or C2 wormhole training corporation. You'll learn the basics of POS mechanics, scanning, running sites, mining, differences between kinds of sites, gas harvesting, etc. and get both time to skill up to the specifics you'll need for wormhole life. Worth it.
There are a number of wormhole alliances that have such training corps. C2 life with daily training can provide a reasonably good income while building your character and real-life skill at the game. Look in the recruitment center. |

Ok, you got me. I originally tried to get into the Wormhole Campus with Eve University but we had different views on 'being active' so I went and joined what I thought was a C2 WH corp and found out they went to C5 a couple weeks before. But I believe that being in a C1 or C2 wormhole is more dangerous than say the C5 I am in. You got daytrippers and probers who are constantly 'probing your holes' and running your sites for quick isk. You don't see daytrippers coming into a C5 and trying to run a C5 solo.
What I am trying to say is don't jump into a C4/C5/C6 wormhole unless your corp/alliance is very patient and understanding, luckily I got that. |

Not sure if this is possible for you, but if you have an alt that can cloak, put it on the high sec hole. Then, turn down the volume on your site running account and turn it up on your cloaky alt. Make sure to have your alt's camera focused on the wormhole This will allow you to hear a wh activation without having to constantly check the other account. It makes for a nice warning system if someone decides to jump in the system from high sec. It has saved me a ton of times.

Unless the WH has multiple entrances. Which often they do.
If you are going with a friend you might want to try the Orca nomad approach. Orcas are easy to train into these days and cost about a Plex. Fit a cloak, remote hull rep, remote armor rep in the highs, DC and hull reinforce in the lows and mids to taste. The Orca can bring in your gas harvester ship, miner, backup scan ship and also store ammo and items to refit the other players combat ship while acting as triage. Fun setup. This thread has so much content it may be 'Thread of the Year' and it is only January.
