To those people who run two accounts...
Do you run two instances of EVE on the same PC, or do you run two PCs with EVE on it if you want both accounts logged in at the same time?
I'm debating the P^2 account, however I don't have two PCs, so I don't know if it would be worth it to get it.
Tks for any constructive comments.

I run 3 Separate Instances of EVE on the same PC.
I use 3 Different Directories. Since I have found that EVE behaves better when she runs from separate clients.

Done both. if it's just a quick login and change skills, I use 2 on once PC. If i'm goign to be playign then both for long periods, I prefer each on it's own PC. - -

I have an AMD64 3200, 1 gig, PCIe geforce 6600 GT, not top of the line by any means.
I run two installs of Eve. I think some people run two instances off of the same install, but this has always worked for me. I have no problems at all. Very occasionally I will have some screen freezing issues, like once or twice per day.

My laptop was running two instances rather well I think. It's:
Pentium Mobile 1.73ghz 512mb DDR2 nVidia 6800 Go
But for the most part I use two seperate computers. I'll only dual client when I'm stuck at school and want to be more productive.

I do both.
Mostly I run my 2nd account on a laptop but sometimes, when my girlfriend is playing WoW on my laptop (it's faster than hers), I'll run both accounts on the same PC. Runs fine, bit laggy sometimes - try not to have both chars use a jumpgate or open the market window at the same time
RAM is your friend though when running 2 accounts at once - 1gb is nice, 2gb is better

Edited by: s4mp3r0r on 15/03/2006 08:19:18 running 2 clients from the same directory on a p4 1.6G laptop with a 64MB vidcard and 512MB, playing windowed.
It goes well enough for what i do with it. Warping into roidbelts gives a little lag as well as docking/undocking/jumping takes a while longer than on one of my PC's (when also playing 2 chars with 1 directory). However i won't used this setup to PVP with, then i close down one and fulscreen the pvp char.
The laptop is by far the weakest machine i have and it runs good enough.

I run two of the same cliant, I find that i have to turn the sound off on one, other wise i get ticks, and stuff.
Also when one jumps the other slows down a little bit.
I am thinking of moving to, two copies of eve rather than instances, as i am simple sick of typeing user names and passwords in all the time.
Eve all ways ahs teh wrong use name saved, also a pain one you have an alt in noob corp and you turn off blink on corp chat, and then blink if turned off on corp chat for all our accounts :( ----------------------------------------------

Most I've run on one machine was 4 concurrent sessions. Machine was very gluggy :) Your performance will degrade with every instance of course so if you have a grunty machine then you'll be fine. Brainspace becomes the problem. There's an omg awful lot of alt-tabbing and trying to remember how many alt-tabs character X is from character Z becomes a problem. The real brain bender was running 2 barges and 2 haulers. When the haulers were running in different directions my mind just gave up and I had a nervous breakdown.
For mining and such low-level activities you'll be fine running multiple sessions. Trying to fight 2 ships on the same PC is possible but tricky. Forget about running 2 pvp ships on a single machine unless you're D.A.R.R.Y.L.

Install a whole new game. Dont copy the folders, download the client and install to a new directory.
For the record, I've run 9 copies of Eve at once (I really need to get around to solo strip mining some belts :P ) before now all from the same directory. The only thing that ever degrades is sound gets stuttery after you launch the second copy.
It's all about the processor.
There used to be a sig here, but I got bored of it.

A lot of programs work like that. It still doesn't mean it's a good idea - it can cause problems.

same + set each eve proccess to "lower then normal" priority to keep other programs running smooth and easy switching between clients even while they are doing cpu stuff ________________ I don't DO graphics, here's a sig anyway, wubwoo - Cortes lol thanks :-) |

I have a.......
AMD athlon 2 gig processor
1 gig ram
256 meg Nvida graphics card.
Screen at 1200 resolution.
I run 2 accounts with same client in windowed mode on same computer. Slight lag at times but i never use both accounts to fight with i mainly do the hauler alt thing.
Its definatly worth doing 2 accounts tho -----------------------------------------------
