Edited by: Stone Hammer on 09/09/2003 20:22:44 Greetings,
The Techell Corporation is trying to help in the fight against "Ore Thieves". As of now players that run into "Ore Thieves" while mining can report these players and their actions to the Techell Corporation.
To report these players simply send an Eve Mail to myself (Stone Hammer) in game and I will document these players personally. The Techell Corporation will update their website weekly with the names of these players for all to see, along with the number of complaints by different miners, and the systems they have been stealing in.
As to try to better serve our loyal customers we will not do business with any reported "Ore Thieves" so as to help prevent their further progression in the game as best we can. The Eve Forums will also be updated weekly with these names for all to see, and allow those that have been robed in the past the ability to spot these individuals in Empire Space.
The "Ore Thieves" admit that theirs is an ocupation of crime, and for the most part their is nothing you can do about it but protect yourself as best you can by using secure containers. However regardless of that fact there is now a way to track these thieves and a little added risk involved in their day to day business of stealing.
In short please feel free to report these players to myself. Include whatever information you can to help other players avoid this misfortune as best they can.
Thanks,
|

Quote: This is CCPs position. I doubt it will change.
"The regular containers were designed to jettison unwanted items into space or to hold loot from blown up ships. They were designed so that any player could take from them because that was essential for them to function as they were intended. Players later invented the "container mining" method after noticing that the containers could hold way more than any cargohold. This use for the containers was never intended and it has the obvious flaw that any player with a reduced sense of right and wrong can come by and take everything from the container and no one can do anything about it.
This risk should be known to all players and there will be no reimbursement for ore lost this way. Also, ore "theft" is not considered harrassment so no punishment will be dealt out to those who choose to "steal". Players who are thinking of taking up a career as ore thiefs should note that they will face a lifetime of unpopularity and unhappiness as a result.
CCP has decided to meet players halfway by implementing secure containers that can be bought on the market and have the advantage of being equipped with a password lock. These containers cost money and do not hold the vast amount of ore that the regular containers do. However, with good organization and frequent ore pickups using Industrial ships, they can be very useful for large scale mining operations.
The bottom line is: If you use regular containers to store your ore you assume all the risk. Having your valuables floating in space in an unsecure container is equivelant to throwing money on the street. Should you lurk nearby and wait for someone to take the money and then attack him, the police would deal with you, not him. The same goes in Eve. If you attack a player who just took "your" ore from a regular container in a system with a security level of 0.5 or higher. You will be destroyed by Concord."
GM... PLZ STOP THIS STUPID DISCUSSIONS AND CLOSE ALL ORE THIEF THREADS !

I am a member of Techell yes, I am sorry for the typo. Your correct that normally that is not a big deal unless you have a Corporation that is trying to mimic your own. I am sorry for the confusion, but 1:00 am has a little effect on my typing ability not to mention my thinking.

Edited by: Liscia Thierese on 09/09/2003 20:26:04 Will you also 'update' your membership or does Techell currently recruit hyperactive 12 year olds in desperate need of Ritalin?
Techell Conduct Allegation
If the aggrieved initiated the 'smack' talk, then fair enough but don't let legitimate ingame conduct be an excuse for OOG conduct within the game.
Techell have an unparalled reputation for excellent customer service, as well as the conduct of their members. Stone, you have demonstrated the satisfactory method of dealing with 'Ore Thieves' in Empire Space in a dignified fashion. It's a pity that some of your members cannot emulate such dignity.

Thank you.
The Techell Corporation does its best to try to make our corporation as user friendly as possible. If you have come across members of Techell that have not met with this "Customer Friendly" reputation please feel free to report these actions to me.
I would like these in game to prevent louding anyone out. I would hope that our members are always polite and represent the corporation well, however that is not always the case, and most likely all corporations that openly recruit may have a few members that are less then perfrect. It does not take a lot to blow a little smoke up our rears in an interview, but we must take them at their word until proven otherwise.
Thanks,

I do thank you for bringing it to my attention in that forum. The recent addition of a mimic corp named Techel has thrown us all into a bit of a public affairs nightmare.
Thanks again,

Umm, read CCP's position again there genius.
Even they say that just because you CAN do it doesn't mean you're not going to make a buttload of enemies in the process. Techell is one of the enemies you will be making.

I mean if you're going to slap it on every post about ore thieves, at least READ it.
Thanks for posting that really long quote for no reason though, appreciate it.

Edited by: Stone Hammer on 11/09/2003 21:10:49 The following is the list of Ore Thieves the Techell Corporation has collected to date. To add anyone to this list that you have seen stealing ore, to include those that have stolen your own, please message Stone Hammer with as much information as possible. This list is updated weekly to help keep people aware of who is in their system that may be an ore thief.

Eram System Hooded Mouse

The Techell Corporation would like to thank those that have reported ore thieves to help make mining a little safer, or at least give miners a chance to see who is in the system with them. While the Techell Corporation is simply gathering this information to assist miners, several feelance corporations are on the hunt. If you should happen to have a corpse of one of these ore thieves listed above please contact me in game. Several people that have reported ore thieves are willing to pay for their corpse, and offers have been in the millions. I have a list of who has reported these thieves and will contact them to see if they want to mount the corpse on their hanger wall.

Anyone know when the prize for the person making the 10,000th post about ore thieves gets announced? Must be getting close to a winner being selected by now surely!
