I see more and more complaints about reboots and lock ups caused by running the EVE client but I never see any response that indicates CCP is doing anything to fix it. Or even considers it an issue?? I know it happens to me alot since the last patch and its not a new problem, seems to be only getting worse? Now I lock up during loading the game and at random times in the game I get a complete reboot, like when I open the market, or undock or go through a gate? The EVE client seems to be extremely harsh and I don't know what makes it that way. I do hope someone is actually focused on this?? That would at least make worth the time of continuing to try to play this game, if I knew someone was trying to fix these particular issues?
So what gives CCP? How about an official response??

I used to get crashes a BSOD a lot with Eve, or the client would just crash out.
My solution was to:
 Disable all sound and music within the game.
other things I would suggest are:
Right click on "My Computer". Select Advanced Tab. Select Startup and Recovery Settings. Uncheck the "Automatically restart on system failure" box. This will cause you to see the BSOD error message, which (rarely) can help you work out the problem.
Go into the Program Files/CPP/Eve directory and rename the "Cache" folder to "Old Cache" or something. This often fixes lagging and bugs.
Get the latest drivers for your graphics card.
If you are feeling brave, you could underclockyour FSB/CPU. I do this when playing heavy games, it is especially good for computers kept in a hot room.
Contrary to popular belief, 1024 meg of ram is really the minimum you should play this game with. If you only have 512meg then upgrade it, you will never regret it.
Defragment hard disk. I know that some games, including world of warcraft crash pretty hard on fragmented HDs.
Run "msconfig" and disable every proggy which runs on startup. You can always enable them again later.
Reformat and reinstall windows, if all else fails, this will of couse not help if the problem is hardware related.
Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say 'noob' at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred. |

Ty Azlana for your response and while I appreciate your kind advice it was not what I was hoping to get for a response. I, like many others have already tried most if not all of the suggestions you have offered, and as for playing without sound, I'd just as soon not play if I don't enjoy the sound effects as well as the graphics.
The issue goes beyond the temporary work arounds you are suggesting people use to fix a problem that seems to be a client issue of some sort. What would be nice would be for someone from CCP to step up to the plate and say something. Look at the post that is 15 pages long now with many people who have reinstalled everything several times. Thank you again for your offer of help. But CCP is the one that needs to do something!

Try increasing the size of your page file - goto control panel/system properties/advanced/advanced and at the bottom increase the size of your virtual memory cache to 1000mb - 3,500mb windows recomends about 750mb this isnt enough.

It's easy to shout "fix this!" without going that extra mile to do what's needed to help the devs fix the issue. Keep in mind that the vast majority of players aren't experiencing the issues yuo describe and that they probably can't reproduce the problem on their in-house testing equipment.
Have you told them your exact system specs? Ran the game with the log-server running? Disabled automatic reboots so you see which driver - if any - is crashing the system?
If you can't be bothered helping them help you, you're not part of the solution. You're part of the problem.
It will probably take them a while, but the more info they get from all users experiencing the problem, the easier it will be for them to fix it and consequently the faster a patch will be rolled out.

try running memtest86 to see if theres any bad bits in your
system memory. Its worth a shot, and finding this out
and fixing the mem stick can save you alot of headaches down
the road in all programs you try to run.

Sorry what does this mean? It looks like it could be the solution for my problem but I don't know what it is!

I've starting getting a lot of reboots also. I had three yesterday and one a few days before, the first one was when I was running in full screen mode, the three yesterday I was in windowed mode. Every time it has happened has been when I was coming out of warp; the first one was in jita when warping to a station, all three yesterday were in Mara warping to asteroid belts. Win XP Home SP2 with all latest system updates, DirectX 9.0c, 2GB RAM, NVidia 7800GTX w/ 256MB RAM; running Avast anti-virus and free Zone Alarm in the background, sometimes I had Firefox running also, and also sometimes the TS2 client.
