Edited by: NobodyHere on 17/03/2006 12:08:09 Minmatar ships can choose dmg types and in return they do less dps than Amarr or Gallente and they are also nerfed by some other things...
So why dont they get to choose dmg types with t2 ammo like the caldari ?

I think the 5 second reload idea someone had would be wtfawesome.

also, the "get to chose your damage type" is completely useless when fighting a ship with half a tank. with 3 armour hardeners the difference between the highest and lowest resist is about 10%. whoopie.

Once the t2 explosive crystals are in, minmatar will get their t2 dmg types.

The choosing damage type is very over-hyped.
Caldari can choose damage types, minmatars can choose a balance of certain damage types, and that choice is further restricted by range options and ammo clip sizes for certain ammos and the amount of raw damage that each different ammo gives out.
Its not simply an issue of going i want to deal explosive tonight. :/ - Rise.

To be honest all this "omgh they can choose damage type" is pretty much b*llcr*p, we may have different option in closerange with AC's or arties with range from 30-60km but since most of fleetfights happen on 100km+ theres no really choise isnt there. Its either Carb. Lead, Nuclear or Tremor and they are all Kin and Exp if I remember right.
In close combat where EMP, Phased, Quake and maybe Fusion are usable Gallente (and Amarr with Geddon) also have ability to make any damage type they want with drones.

Not to mention, actually seeing your target and thinking 'hey, lets change damage type' requires 10 seconds of no shooting (obviating any DPS gained by switching ammo), plus requires you to carry all of those different ammo types in the first place in the limited cargo space we have.
Personally, I'd quite happily take EM/Thermal only to do the DPS that Amarr do. Or Explosive only. Or anything. The generaly pooness of our guns is not justified by this supposed advantage.
Not that that's a new revelation, but im in a whining mood cos I'm stuck in work and my mates are out drinking for St Patrick's day :(
There used to be a sig here, but I got bored of it.

The main problem is the performance of T2 proj ammo against a shield tank. In fleet it does't realy matter what dmg you do.

QFT again...
5 second reload would be beautiful... It would solve MANY issues the Minmatar have.

people are far too hooked with giving the dmg type choice as a huge bonus, it helps sure, but isnt really applicable to the full extent unless your using AC.
when using artillery, range gives your ammo choice 75% of the time.
