it itself, a rather good name... except that a nagging worry always gnaws at the back of my mind, saying "was it intended to be the galactic federation, and someone did a typo...?"
I've never had the heart to ask... if it's the latter I might want to curl up and hide...

It's a typo. The CEO made the corp ina hurry and mispelled it. I've wanted to pod him a few times for that. In his defence, I have to say it's a common misspell. Just look for corps with "galatic" in their name

Any Corp names with "subtle" or "cute" sexual references made by what appears to be 15-21 year-old males...like "trouser snakes", "wangs hung-lo", anything with "g4y" derivatives, or "sexual acts" are lame, adolescent, and just plain sad....
There are some fantastic Corp names in EVE, and many congrats to those who are indeed creative...

I'm partial to names that mean something beyond a joke that gets less funny every time you say it (yes, this goes for my corp name as well, although thankfully it sounds sort of dignified if you don't know what it means).
So..."Guiding Hand Social Club" (read the stories, damnit), "Jericho Fraction" (although I've always wondered where the 'Jericho' bit was really from), "Tsurokigaarai" and "Masuat'aa Matari" (PF sounding names ftw), etc.

Hard to choose: I like Black Nova corp and Evolution; they are very unoriginal and yet they have something special. Celestial Apocalypse is also very cool, but maybe I am biased there. Another cool one is SECTION VIII, which sounds like they have all been locked up, due too lunacy. Hadean Drive Yards is the most original I can come up with atm, and its very cool too. Funniest must be Moms 'n' Pops ammo shoppeor old farts. October snow is very epic like.
Bad corp names? Anything that involves EVE,Imperial, Navy or the like.

no, section 8 refers to someone with mental health issues and is common slang used in the US military for someone that is/acts crazy. in reality its a discharge from the military for mental health reasons.
and the act you are talkng about is a "blanket party" but, it has many many different names
