This is about the login issues, it's been over a week with no dev responce and no constructive help other than those in the community with the same problem trying to figure it out. As you may or may not know this started on the 8th and there is no way to get in without someone sending you a new machonet folder every day and even then the game crashes every few minutes. I've been playing this game for a long while now without any problems until this started, now I cant do a damn thing but hope someone has a working folder every day so I can change skills. This isnt a flame thread so if you cant post anything constructive don't post at all. All I want is some input from the devs on what exactly is being done since there is no way possible to miss a subject like this for almost 2 weeks. Anyway whats going on? :P

I've not had any login problems. Didn't know anyone was having any.

You want to know whats going on? Look close... at your C:\ drive.
If you are having to replace game folders daily to log in, it's time to scrap the install and start over, and I don't mean just eve.

its not an install issue, its a server one. There a quite a few people who cant connect since the 8th (I assume something serverside was changed around that time) so basically were getting dropped all the time. Some people "fixed" it with firmware updates and others get nothing or mixed results. All I know is i've been playing for a long time with zero problems like that and now I and a few others cant even get into the game anymore. Check this thread out if you want a detailed explaination of it: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=305971

The game might have a heart attack at that but if it doesn't, good idea.

Seeing the fact that the majority has no problem at all and that it's very little whining, we can safely assume the issue is on your side.

its not on my side. Have you even checked that thread I posted? It's happening to random people who have little in common. Why would after a year of playing eve would my connection just stop working? I have contacted my isp and nothing has changed in a long time. From what we can gather (people having this problem) was that something was changed on the server side which affects our connections through modems/routers. Some people say a new modem/router fixed their problems so I'm going to go buy a new dsl modem tomarrow (if I can find one around here) and try that out. Just check that thread and you will have a better understanding about the problem. Also there have been several posts in general about this but they get pushed back a few pages as no one seems to pay attention to them.

Last time I said the same, my HDD was at 99% fragmentation and died shortly afterwards.
I can assure you they have something in common

Here is the thing. Those are UNCONFIRMED TEMPORARY FIXES. You dont know if the problem will come back a few days or a few weeks later. My modem works fine for everything, until the 8th of this month I could log into eve and play fine. Now unless everyone who is having this problem (quite a few but not masses of people) also had their modem break on the same day as me (everyone says their problems started on the 8th) you could argue that, but the fact is SOMETHING was changed that affects a small amount of people. I hope you dont have a problem like this because its a pain in the ass to try to get people to not automatically say "oh its your problem since I dont have it." Please just look everything over before posting comments like that.

You have modified any firewall you have to allow exefile.exe rather than eve.exe, haven't you?

I used to have a problem with Eve because the cache folder became read-only (did it itself, I swear). Game still worked fine, just lost settings each time I restarted it (because it was ignoring my changes as they couldn't be saved)

Yeah we have tried just about everything we can think of to trouble shoot this but nothing works (some of use including me have tried it with the firewall disabled).

I`m sure you have tryed a bunch of things,I personally have heard from a few people that have the same problem.Personally I think it is a problem with the download (it might have got coruppted while downloading or installing)but you might want to try a second download of the client and try running your game from that one to see if it`s the problem.

Edited by: BlackHole Bob on 18/03/2006 11:33:20 here is what i now for sure
maybe it will help ...dunno...
if eve client crashs out in anyway...you should reboot your computer with a COLD BOOT right there...
if you do not do that eve's cache can and a lot of times corrupts...I could detail what i know from my logs but is not needed here...
another thing is recently i serviced two computers that became very unstable and crashed alot after the last big patch...
we resolved the issues on both comps by UPDATING THE BIOS...on both and each had diff motherboards...ASUS and MSI
you ran eve for A LONG TIME YOU say without issues...
its most likely not ccp...its more of a combination of this most likely...
you have core firmware drivers that need updating...or vid and sound and such also....as with each update eve may use new aspects of the above....
second when you do crash out in eve. as i stated above, in combination with possibly computer update issues at a core level...
hope maybe this helps..

Copy your Eve folder to Eve_test and clear there the cache.

Just an idea if you haven't tried it yet
Try reinstalling eve in a completely new directory. Don't copy over any of your old settings and see how that goes
I use to have a copy of EVE on 1 partition that just died one day. Deleting it and then re-installing only placed the game on the same area of the HD
Do you use any port forwarding or firewall settings for EVE?
I believe they changed their IP Address after the server upgrade. Am I correct on this?

Ok i used to have big problems with eve so over time i did lots of things to fix it now im not sure if these would help but here is a list of things to try out.
Reboot computer.
Switch of computer for 20 seconds [eve has memory leek problems]
Switch off firewall [If this fixes it then make eve an exeption].
switch of all other active programs before running eve [sometimes programs dont mix well].
Re-install and patch eve [i know its not easy but who knows your copy may be corrupted somehow]
Now to the hardware now i know it may not be you but its best to make sure of this.
Check your connection is it stable on sites other than eve based.
If you use broadband of some sort make sure all phone based devises have a filter fitted and number no more than 4 [including sky tv].
Phone up your provider to see if your signal is within the innner catchnemt are and not on the edge [if your on the edge this amy be it as the signal is less stable there, i had this problem i qualify for a 2 meg connection but my cable cant senbd that strong a signal so i get 1 meg instead].
Also if your at a weak reception area make sure your computer is DIRECTLY connected to the mainn line and has no phone pints between you and it [Even unused phone points in your house can waeken the siognal more which was why mine didnt work that well].
I hope this helps you. -----------------------------------------------
