Which would be the better choice?
both can be blanced to a point attribute wise and skill wise.
The amarr ships tend to have more low slots (more cargo expanders) and seem more suited to mining till I can get a barge. But the Mini ships alos can make decent miners (and I do like thier industirals a bit better)
the Galls are anohter option.. but not a fan of drones

Are you gonna mine your whole of EVE life that's the question. Or are you the type that also wants to shoot other people?
Intel / memory for industrial chars
Perception / willpower for PVP / PVE / shooting stuff
The latest Chinese chars (I'll call em this way) have the higest attrbutes to start this game.

I like mining, for the most part it's a nice easy relaxing thing to do.
I plan to focus first on getting skills to a point then doing learning for a while till I get a good bit done there.
Looking for at most a cruiser to mine in for a bit. I plan to get the int&mem skills learned before skilling up for the barge.
I plan to transfer a couple mil from my old toon to the new one, so low level mining for a bit while I save up for the big ships (while leveling skills)
the mini ships are more easily switched to combat than the amarr ones I think (and far more flexible)

If you're looking for a cruiser to mine in then I highly suggest you look at the Osprey. Good Cargo Capacity, Nice bonus to mining yield, drone bay is good enough for 4 mining drones if you want that extra little bit, and you get a missile launcher to swat the baby belt rats that'll try to pester you anywhere outside of 1.0. Ospreys are cheap and efficient. And you can't spit in caldari stations without hitting at least one. --- The Amish are coming! The Amish are coming! |

yes but matari ships are the only ships uglier than the rocks they're mining. --- --- The Amish are coming! The Amish are coming! |

If I wanted pretty I'd go amarr :-P (but I think thier cresent ships are bleah)
But I like a few things in my ships... speed and functionality.
For the most part the minis have both

I can't really fault you for not caring about asthetics. .. well I can but it really wouldn't do much good now would it? heh... okay I'm done, promise. --- The Amish are coming! The Amish are coming! |

well I've always prefered the ugly cars, people are less likely to steal them (or from them)
Plus most of the time the ugly/ordinary looking rides are far far more money efffecient (insurance and milage)
But in game it looks like the fugly ships are the most flexible ones :-P

They had to have something to balance them, you can't have fugly and useless ships or nobody would want to be a Minnie.
To the OP. I fly Amarr ships and for the most part they are pretty funtional but the lack of mids means shield boosting is a problem if you stack all your lows with expanders. On hindsight, I'd go for Minnie ships for mining, they have a pretty equal balance of lows and mids so can be expanded for more cargo space and still have mids for boosters and hardeners etc.
