Anyone have any experience with it? It looks a lot more fun than regular mission running. |

what exactly makes you think it would be more fun than mission running in empire? "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

expect gate and station camps
Also expected to be probed down and instantly ganked by a fleet of battleships.
Then even if your able to get your stuff out you'll be blown to bits by scanning gate camps near the major trading posts as well.
So yeah

The missions themselves are not more fun, they are the same boring missions, the fun comes from the challenge of surviving in hostile territory and outsmarting the ones who are hunting you all while accomplishing the mission.
This is fun for some and stupid or foolish for others. It's a matter of what you consider fun.
If isk/h is in your formula of fun, this will definitely not be fun. |

Which is why i prefer exploration or even just ninja ratting. I don't tank my empire standings, I don't have to loot tags for isk (although you can do non-pirate nullsec npc missions for this), I'm not tied to a station or location.
If you want to run missions in nullsec, its highly advisable to be in a corp that lives in the area. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

The missions are the same in dificulty.
The only diference is that the lp payout is better and u have a higher chance of losing ur ship. -á- I am the commanding officer , u should adress me as sir ! -á- But if i call u sir , what would i call your wife then ?? |

I spent 2-3 months doing Sansha missions with an alt a couple years ago.
It was fun and different. Very dangerous.
Notes/Observations:
- All things considered, you will make about the same as you would in hisec...so don't expect great riches. Along with this, don't do it if it is your only Eve Character as you will spend considerable time camped/under siege...so have another account to play on when this happens. It is also expensive or dangerous (your choice) to get your loot out.
- The station is a danger spot. ANYONE can dock there...and so is a favorable place for gankers and bubbles is what they like to blow. They have all sorts of tricks you need to learn. For example, they see you missioning and not which system you flew to. They wait in station until you come back in local, wait a few seconds....then pop out and bubble catching and killing you as you warp to station.
- You need BM's wayyyyy off (not just 200km) stations and gates. You warp to one of several of these BM's around the station see if clear then warp to station.
- NEVER fly ANYWHERE in a straight line. Always dog-leg or 2.
- Safes, Safes, Safes...
- Jumping gates is always extremely dangerous. You need cloaky alts to do this to see if the route is clear. If you don't you will lose ships regularly. Best to just not do it. I was in a system with 2 lvl 4 agents and many times just declined missions that took me out of system. Have to watch your standing religiously though.
- You MUST be friendly with the local blues or you will have a very tough time. However, being friendly with the local blues won't make you safe as anyone can come in system and dock.
- Get used to hitting DSCAN looking for probes every 0.134 seconds...
- Fly inexpensive, small fast ships (no BS's). My alt used a Zealot...small, fast and could run lvl 4's. Even jumping gates you might escape a camp (though bubbles will still snag) but don't count on it.
- Supplies are a ***** to find usually...so if you fly a Zealot, for example, have several of them with all the modules for replacements.
- Unlike Null, you will have to mission with neuts in the system. This means staying frosty and on the ball at all times. You literally need to be able to warp out within a sec of someone uncloaking. Now, if you did actually and are hitting the DSCAN looking for probes several times a second :P...then this shouldn't happen...but if you slacked off even once... :) There is usually no relaxing AT ALL and you will treasure the rarer times you are alone in the system.
=====
I highly recommend doing this at least once in your Eve career. You will learn many things on surviving in hostile space like how to dock and undock at stations...how to run sites with neuts around etc etc. It will make you old quickly and so you will likely want to try other, more relaxing things after awhile, but it is fun to do.
I do recommend, however, that you try missioning in losec FIRST. It is exactly the same except you don't have to worry about bubbles. Therefore, when you do go to pirate space, all your learning will be automatic and you can just concentrate on how bubbles change the mix. |

Hello Capsuleer,
I read the posts above and found a few nuggets you can use so I will not repeat the sage advice. I have a bit of my own though.
Difference:
In a word I would say yes. you can get the same old missions you get in empire with a few twists. For example, doing blockade vs. CONCORD rather than a pirate entity or doing Police Invasion which is a variation of Pirate Invasion vs. an empire navy. Overall the anti faction missions are a bit more robust. Minmatar (esp Freedom Fighters) are a bit harder to tank than Angels.. Also, a few of the storylines are different, but I do not wish to spoil the surprises.
I would not advise these missions on your 1 and only account, nor would I advise them to a new player. You have to learn game mechanics before ever attempting this alone. Best to join an established NPC 0.0 corp in the area you choose or muck about the game until you learn the ropes.
That being said, if you are able to fly T3 and have an alt that can fly an interceptor you have more options available to you then some of the prior posters alluded to.
Make insta-undocks, use cloaks and depots as needed and you have a much better survival rate if you know what you are doing. I would NEVER un-dock in NPC 0.0 without an alt unless I wanted (or factored) to take the pod express.
Be careful what you think, for your thoughts become your words. Be careful what you say, for your words become your actions. Be careful what you do, for your actions become your character. And character is everything. - author unknown |

I've Run Pirate missions in Venal , Cures, Stain and Delve. It's a nice change of pace, if the area is quiet it's easy, if the area is busy, it's stressful but fun. I've never lost a mission ship doing it and OMG the loot is nice, especially in Venal.
The problems are (as mentioned) the logistics of getting the loot out, killing your empire standings, the tedium of either having to use 2 accounts (one to scout , although it's not bad as the scout should be pulling missions for you too) or 1 account with a mobile depot, and the fact that it's best to use a smaller faster ship like a Tech3 which means the missions themselves can take longer.
The missions are mostly the same, but CONCORD Blockade can kill if you shoot the wrong things. I'd say pirate missions are good for the super adventurous, but not something I'd recommend to most folks. |
