I saw another forum complaining about pirates, I add the below but have now started a new thread to find out where you think is a safe place to mine from pirates.
I use to mine in what was safe space but now I mine in 0.4 space, the rewards are greater and believe it or not the risks are low. In safe space you have corps that are at war, when one Corp camps another in a station the Corp members that are waiting out side amuse them selves by picking on the miners. In 0.4 the only players are miners and pirates that real do want to kill you. I have found that where I mine in Gerper pirates are not that common and the ones that do come in are ok to talk to.
My biggest advise is never smack talk a pirate build up a friendship and if he or she need a favour do it as it will earn you respect and less chance he will kill you.

There is no safe place to mine that reaps a quick profit. It's something I've slowly learned in my three months here. You can always find a nice quiet system to mine in, out in some far off corner of the galaxy, but they don't stay that way for too long.
Always gotta keep moving.

There are some damn good belts in Rancer and Otou. I hardly ever see any nasties there.

These fine gentlemen gave you quite a few good suggestions. You can pick from a good number of systems now.

Are you refering to suicide gankers in 0.5 or above ?
I think pretty much All pirates have miners in their home sytems that they get on with. But they prey on miners in other areas.

Even though many of the pirates in the thread point to their camped systems as safest and it may seem to be sarcasticaly said, but its not. Systems that are gate camped by pirates are probably the safest low sec systems to mine in solo, as long as your not within scanning range of their gate and dont use the same station you will be more or less 100% safe.
Other pirates get ganked at the gate
The camping pirates will just think you are at ss

Some systems have active communities that don't take kindly to pirates infesting them. Find one of these, they're usually on the fringes of 0.4-0.5 junctions.

Deadends or isolated 0.4s surrounded by high sec, with local detached from corp chat and monitored at all times. You need good bookmarks and decent alignment, don't hug the roids or you'll get stuck trying to warp out. Don't stare at them, the ore won't come out any faster. Don't inhale the Jaspet dust, you'll grow fur.
The "baddest" pirates camp (mine) their usual gate all day, so it boggles the mind that even slightly experienced players get blown up in Amamake/Egghelende/Rancer etc. And they do, in pretty amusing numbers. If you can't avoid it, then you did something wrong and deserve to lose more than you did.

How do they manage that if they're in safe space? (unless you mean the miners of the corp that's involved in the war).

ISS, CVA, and Big Blue are open to all as well. ISS is soon going to be in over 3 regions of EVE with stations so you can choose where you want to go.

Ok its looks like i am going to give pirates some tips on how to kill in 0.5 and above.
What happens is a ppl will be mining away in a jet can If your a pirate you get one of your corp members to comes in and take from the miners ore can and quickly place the miners ore into a another can (Pirates Can) that corp member then warps off leaving the ore in the can. The miner comes along and thinks i am taking back my ore, open the can takes the ore from that can back into his own can. Now the miner is flag for 14 mins which means the orginal pirate sat in the system can now blow the miner up as in eve eyes he is now a ore thief.
Hence that why i think its safer to mine in 0.4.

I mine Ochre in Jove Space. No pirates here, not even NPC ones.
There are these annoying 'Polaris' and 'ISD' n00bs though...
