Lets have modules them selves have ranks, say 50 for simplicity
Now a BPO produces a module with a given rank. this module is 50% of current at rank 1 and 100% of normal at rank 50 (yes 50%+ rank)
This allows for the resurch of components that are different form those of every other BPO. This will reward those who take time to upgrade there BPO ranther than just rush to be first to market.
The Rank of a module would take be along this idea
T1 modules 5d
T2 modules 30d
Capital modules 90d
The times are long as you are resurching not how to make it cheaper or faster, but how to make the module better than before.
I think this chage A) would make combat take longer, B) make modules be more diverse, C) give Manufaftures that dedicate to that profession a advantage over the guy that just grabs a BPO off the market.

Sry mate but i simply dont like your idea i think they way they have it now works just fine sept for the fact there arnt enough ME research slots :p

I agree. I've spent hours flying around different regions trying to find stations with ME slots free or at least, less than several days left.

I had a similar idea called "Tweaking" whereby you could put a BPO in research and "Tweak" various attributes to make named items. The better the BPO the longer it takes. Science skills factor in etc, but it would mean that someone with Science lvl 1 could skill start adding value as a "Scientist" career from day 1
Number of research slots is another matter that really needs sorting, but shouldn't mean we dismiss Mest Up's idea

I completely agree. Pre-RMR, I could find tons of lab slots left unrented. Now, I have to fly to 0.2 space just to get one with less than 2 days on it.
Please, Oveur and fellow devs, fix this. There are a lot of manufacturers who cannot conduct trade as normal due to the lack of lab slots.
