I have an Executioner fitted with a 10mn MWD. My navigational and engineering skills are such that I can maintain a top speed of around 3800m/s for about as long as I can be logged in. The 'Cap Recharger' and other items fitted + skills keeps me cycling between 44% cap and 22% when the MWD cycles.
My question is this. I can get about 8000km in an hour if I go straight. If I 'let 'r rip' for say 8 hours I could get around 60,000 to 65,000km from an asteroid belt. Could I then drop off a small secure container and bookmark that location as a 'safe area' to warp to if I needed it?

thats one way to make a safe area... but there are much easier ways... such as setting a bookmark at a mission point and then warping there later.
My sig needs some color in it. |

Why wouldn't you be able to? There are far less time consuming ways to make more reliable safespots. I'd more likely ask why you would want to use that particular method.

Defiantley much easier means
The mission bookmarks are good, but can't always get a mission in soem systems.
Also good is the mid warp bookmarks.
They guess you're headed soemwhere and warp past you.
Might want a couple mid warp points, can jump to one then warp to one of the others to throw off them trying to back track you.

I wasn't sure that I'd be able to 'bookmark' the location and be able to warp to it later. There are times when I've tried to warp to, say, a ship that's 300k or so away...and I get a 'there's nothing to lock onto' type message. I want to try to drop the SSC out there to see if that would work. And not all systems have missions and deadspace and such things to bookmark anyway...or do they? I never did find all the secret screens in Mario Brothers...

you know you dont need an item to make a bookmark, right? People and places --> places --> add bookmark..

you can use the people and places window to create a bookmark anywhere
just click the add bookmark tab at the bottom when it is opened

to run MWD indefinitely, fit Small Capacitor Batteries and Cap Power Relay.
To make good safespots, train Astrometrics to lvl 3 or 4. Fit Scan probe launcher, and farthest Scan Probes you can use. Launch 3 and scan for station, noobship or shuttle. Afeter a while you get some warp points, which are essentially safespots... Not as good as you would get with Observator probe (lvl5 Astrometrics) but still...
