If someone tractor beams your jet can does it flag them to give you the right to attack them or make concord mad or anything ?
Thanks

Do you think that a Tractor Beam is invaluable for a mission runner? I don't have any of the skills required for one and was curious how good it worked.

I found tractors to be a nifty, but not all that usefull over all. It would work out much better if they increased the range to say 50km.
They are usefull on an Indy for cleaning up after a mission. But I would not suggest taking a VERY valuable high slot on your combat ship.
Note that their range is very short (20km) and if you are using a good salvage ship, you can close that in about the time it takes to lock and trigger the tractor. ;) I use a Sigil with a AB or MWD to collect the cargo. With duel tractors it speeds things up a bit but I have to be carefull not to out run the cans I am collecting as I travel faster then then the tractor pulls.
Kinda cool, but waiting to see the large tractors. :)

Hmmmmmm a tractor beam for a mission runner... interesting....
Tractors are nice for mining b/c you can move your jetcan / secrue can (not sure about secure though) w/o loading it up in a industrial, and move the can to the industrial quicker than you can get to it.
If you were in a larger ship, with the extra space, and not enough power to put a combat mod in there, I guess you could use one, espically if you were trying to collect all the loot that is droped.
Basic stats:
Works on Cargo Containers only range is 20km moves can to 1000m from ship moves to you at 500m/s Does not take a turret/missile slot up, IE if you have 5 hi slots, but can only fit 4 turrets, the fith can be a tractor. _______________

Tractor beams are really nice if you get most/all off your kills within or nearly within 20km, especially in a slow ship. This means they're nice for me, using blasters and drones mostly, but realy bad for my friend using cruise missiles.

If you are 'ratting in anything bigger than a Cruiser, tractor beams are pretty much a necessity. Nothing like picking up cargo cans at 10x the speed as normal . I use the two extra high slots on my Ferox for them.

But I would say that they are better than the alternative if you still want to check you're loot, wouldn't you? _____________________________________________________________________ Thar be Pirates

Edited by: Drew Blaze on 21/03/2006 19:30:04 I use 2 tractor beams on my battleship. 6 missile launchers and 2 tractor beams. Mission running ONLY, i can pick up every single loot can without having to fly around to pick them up. Saves A LOT of time, more mods=more ore, more ore=more money. I gather and save all my loot and then once in a while I refine it all. Tractor Beams are perfect for mission running. (IN a battleship at least - mission lvl 3 and 4's)

I'm a huge fan of the tractor beams. I run missions in a Thorax which has a small cargo bay. After I've killed everything, I come back with my Exequror with 4 tractors, MWD, AB, and nanofiber or cargo expanders depending on how much loot I need to pick up. It quick and easy.
I also use them on my inty when I'm picking up mining cans. I don't have to setup an insta, just bookmark the can, warp in at 15km, tractor the can and warp out. When I come back for round 2 and 3, the can is at my warp in point.
I just wish there was an extra high slot on the mining barges to mount one so I could drag my jet can around with me.
