So, this is my second day of playing EVE (I'm using the 14 day trial while I decide if I want to continue - as it stands, I'm pretty hooked, so I think I will) and I picked up an item that was something like:
Dread Gurista's Ballistic Missile System
It added 10% to missile damage and 12.5% to missile firing rate. I sold it for 93M ISK. The pirate was in 0.8 space.
I guess my real question is: How unlikely was this? It seems that would be like getting an epic world drop in Teldrassil in WoW (The only other MMO I'm familiar with), but was I really that lucky? There is so much about this game I'm still trying to get a handle on (I love the skill system and the market system, though. About 100x better than WoW).

I would say that was damn lucky in my own opinion, I'm damn lucky to even find a dread spawn in huge numbers of 0.0 space.
I must just be damn unlucky as 11 months in the game I have only seen a dread spawn once (and I live out in deep 0.0)
Edit - I don't rat all the time though like others.

You were insanely lucky.
It dropped from a 'commander' spawn, or in this case - you killed a Dread Gurista, which is what dropped it. The chance to find these in high sec empire are extraordinarily low (probably less than 1/500 chance), and the chance then of getting the ballistic control - one of the most expensive Dread Gurista items, was very, very low.
Congratulations. My only concern is that at that level of the game, that amount of isk might make things too easy and put you off continuing.

took me about 4 months to make 93m when i started playing

Heh. I'm not a very competitive player, so I dunno how much 'easier' it'll make the game since this game seems to encourage ruthlessness, but we'll see.
And that wasn't a troll, I played WoW for a long time, enjoyed it very much, but found the market and levelling systems very restrictive. I was....expressing my enjoyment at the freedom of EVE. Many will disagree. They are free to.
