I want to find some domination and so rats in 0.1-0.4 ( ). How to search good systems to find one? I have heard that these make good cash (drop implats and faction stuff)?

faction rats are random, so just go around the belts killing everyone, and after a few months you 'might' meet one

Very random they are indeed. A few days ago I popped two Shadow Serpentis cruisers in a 0.4 system, before that I had not seen any since the beginning of January on my old main

You have to keep 1 belt clear of rats for about 2 hours before you'll get one. Be sure to pick up all the loot.

its very time consuming, but if you devote few hours to npcing in one system then its likely you will see one, be sure to scram him because they have nasty habit of warping away - after blood patch anyways.

Saw a Domination BC a long time ago and I couldn't kill it solo so I gave it to a +10 member in the system and he got some BANGING loot

So i just want to make sure i got this right. I sit in a 0.4 or lower system for like three hours just killing all the rats in the one belt and eventualy a faction ship should spawn?

there is high possibility, sometimes you get one by accident just passing thro a system, sometimes you spend whole day and see non, sometimes you get 3 in 2 hours - my friend (lucky guy). patience + luck ftw

Based on experience, it seems that the likelihood of them appearing increases if you cycle through all the belts killing everything rather than chainspawning things. I have had 2 faction cruisers in one hour before. Doing this also gets you hauler spawns and such more often I think.
True security status etc seems to have no bearing on the likelihood of them appearing.

interesting... where did you hear this? can anyone second this?
should it be enough to shoot the cans and not pick up the loot?

I've cleaned belts and got faction spawns. I've cleaned everything including cans and got faction spawns I left cans and got faction spawns Sometimes I get faction spaws within 15 minutes, sometimes none after 3 hours.
I simply don't see a pattern, maybe it's really just just random.

Edited by: Admiral Keyes on 22/03/2006 15:50:13 Edited by: Admiral Keyes on 22/03/2006 15:46:52 In my experience in low sec its not about the time, its about the number of rats killed i believe.
I hunt in a 0.3 system when i want low sec. In most belts only weak spawns appear, frigs and the odd 40k cruiser. As i kill everything and move from belt to belt, the odd dual 45k spawn will appear, then dual 45k with more frigs, then dual 50k, etc.... until one time i even saw a 90k cruiser in one belt. And low and behold, the following belt, 450k "commander" cruiser.
After i killed him and his 4 cruiser/3 frig escort i went back to killing npcs, what do i find, frigate only spawns the odd 40k cruiser for a few hours before they started to very slowly pick up in strength.
EDIT - Also, i only looted valuable mods, i popped any cans containing rubbish.
I do believe this cycle differs with the rating of the system as one day i found a 25k commander frigate in a 0.6 belt. A corp mate got a DG Imputor in 0.7 last week, it dropped a low grade crystal gamma.

I hunt in a 0.3 sometimes. Post rmr shadow serps seem more rare, but once, just after rmr I got a ss BC with something like 1.5 mil bounty
In general the system seems totally random to me, but I may be wrong.

Edited by: Wiggy69 on 22/03/2006 17:32:28 I managed to get a True Sansha Savage Lord, with a couple of Sansha Lords, out in 0.0 once. IIRC, it dropped a Slave Delta and a TS Energised Adaptive Nano Membrane. I was happy ---------

If you want faction spawns, go belt pirating, I always manage to get 2 or 3 small frig/cruiser spawns in low sec, then end up finding no player targets, so I go home with more sec status then I went out with, sorta defeated the purpose, but meh...

in the past 4 days i have gotten 9 TS spawns. 3 9.4, 4 crusier, 1 12.4, 1 frig, and 4 hauler spawns. Yes this is in one of the best NPC systems in eve, but still i am lovin it :)

After months of ratting in 0.0 and low sec I have yet to find a repeatable pattern. The best luck I've had is just covering systems thoroughly. I pick an area I want to go to, say a particular constellation. Once I get out there I hit every belt in every system. If you have time and ammo and cargo space then go around again. I usually pick up multiple high end BS spawns pretty regularly that way and if I'm out there long enough sometimes a commander type will show up. But not always. I've gone weeks without seeing one. Other times I get two or three in as many days.
But then again, two days ago I jump into the system next to my base for some quick ratting and first belt I hit had a Domination Commander and two Warlords sitting in it. Go figure.

Faction rats spawn in high-sec as well.
Couple of days ago I got a Dire Gurista commander of some sorts in a 0.5 system. He was flying an AF.
Didn't drop anything useful, though :-( Dire Gurista Tungsten Charges ftl..

Dire Guristas are just elite versions of ships, and the loot they drop is utter gash. Seems like they're using pre-RMR loot tables.

Yes it appears that when a belt spawns at first it will be frigates, then destroyers, then cruisers, and so on till you get the commander, but if you wait too long to kill each spawn the cycle will reset and a frig spawn will come again. --- Wolven Elite Guard is recruiting - new and old players with high regard for high morals and values |
