I was chatting with a buddy of mine tonight while doing some mission work. He told me a friend of his got killed in a system that is currently a 0.6 security system. Now while I realize this is very possible, how is it exactly that the party who killed him was able to escape Concord and the sentry guns? I mean it seems unlikely they would be able to take on all of the police cruisers or the guns. Perhaps I do not entirely understand how this is accomplished in the first place, which is why I'm asking for some help in figuring this out.

There are quite a few ways it can be done. If 2 corps are at war with each other they can shoot each other anywhere. It is also possible to kill someone and loss your own ship in the process (suicide attack).
If you kill a non-war target in hi-sec and do not lose your ship to Concord then it is an exploit and petitionable.

1) He may be at war
2) You may "suicide gank" someone. Kill them but you must lose your ship. (Evading concord is an exploit)

You probably won't get caught escaping, good luck, I think everyone should at least go for it.

Maybe your buddy was stealing from someones cans and they decided to kill him for it. Or maybe someone stole from one of his cans and he decided to attack the thief and lost the fight.
Can flagging ftw.

I am a pirate and 90% of my targets are in high sec. This way I get fights that the enemy wanted to have instead of forcing them into it.
I do this by stealing someones can and then they decide whether to fight me or not. The best way to get someone to fight you is when they are mining. You go up to their ore can, drop your own can right next to it, open both cans at once, and then drag all their ore from their can to yours. You can do this with any ship that has a cargo bay of any size cause you drag all those thousands of m3 of ore straight from one can to another never using your own can. Also an excellent way to stop macro miners.
Ok, so once you take their ore and put it in your can they can either forget about you or go get a combat ship, come back, and take the ore out of your can into their own. Once they take it out of your can you can legally begin shooting them.
If they don't decide to fight you then go sell their ore.

"Ober" means that he is the Ultra, or master-Adolf.
I guess it stops to be funny when you consier that jews might play this game. I propose to ban him, but you can also give him a new ibis, donŠt care much.

Or...the word can just translate as something along the lines of "Leader". Just because ****** used it as a title doesn't mean the word itself is bad.

well tbh, if transporting anything of high value, even in empire, i wouldnt settle for anything less than a blockade runner with buffed up tank and nano's etc. Just because it's in empire doesnt guarantee safety, ever

As for the OP, it was probably a suicide attack. People are getting richer and are moving more expensive stuff around, while battleship prices have stayed more or less the same for a while, so more pirates are starting to hang around at the gates and kill haulers if they carry something worth losing a ship for. They just need a buddy in a hauler to pick up the loot. |

Related to the can trick, is the itty bitty ship trick:
Ingredients:
1)One or more strong ships
2)A Rookie ship or equally pathetic frigate
3)Random miner or mining op
Preparation:
Have the rookie ship or frigate find a cans with mucho ore in them, jet a can, and transfer the ore. The lil jacker will be flagged to the enemy corp or individual (if noob corp). Miners either pop the frig or it gets away. Miners bring in hauler and retrieve the ore, or an enemy bs (yummy) transfers the ore back.
Serving:
Your bs's jump back and you enjoy the mods (plus the ore if you want it)

lookin in a dictionary for the words "fnhrer" doesnŠt help ... if uŠd live in germany, uŠd know that itŠs pretty obvious what ober-fnhrer means ... germans are pretty sensible in this case even until now.

Since I am German some explanation: individually, the words "Fnhrer" would mean "guide", (rarely) "animal handler" or "leader" and is usually used in the "guide" meaning. "Ober" as a noun is "waiter", while in context of "Oberfnhrer" it is a bit silly as it is no actual german word. "Ober<something>" can be used as qualifier in a way, for instance the german Bundeswehr (army) uses "Gefreiter" ("Private") and "Obergefreiter" ("Private First Class" or so, I'm not really firm in military ranks).
It could be read as "top guide", "best guide" or whatever, but as I said, it's not a word that is used in German.
The decision to feel offended by the name is open to the reader now
