So as we start planning for EVE Vegas 2014 after last year's successful ramp-up, we'd love to hear what direction we should take with the next one which will most likely take place sometime in Oct/Nov.
We have our own ideas and we've learned a lot from past EVE Vegases (that's a word right?), but we'd like to hear what you think, whether you're an EVE Vegas veteran, a one hit wonder planning a comeback, or someone who's merely interested and have yet to take the leap.
Do you want more presentations? Less presentations? Different topics? Did you like the activities? Any other activities we should definitely add? What's the best venue? Did you like the PVP room? Were the catering options ok or do you want us to do something differently there? etc etc.
Let's talk Vegas, baby!! CCP Guard | EVE Community Developer |-á@ccp_guard |

I LOVED the pvp room. That was awesome. Maybe a few less presentations. I like the smaller the groups where its easier to talk and have more discussions. Also would like to do more get to know each other things. Party bus was a blast!!!! |

Planning on returning As long as funds allow, that is.
The round tables were good. Always good to be able to just chat with the developers.
The presentations were good as well.
I was quite happy with the Rio as a location. More than big enough, and easy to get to the strip for other activities. Steve Ronuken for CSM 9! http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

I attended this year and enjoyed it.
I thought Javajunky's presentation on how alliance logistics worked was great. More stuff that people can learn from would be my recommendation.
More presentations about 3rd party tools would be great. Maybe 5-10 minute per tool and then a round of discussion. There is a huge reliance on out of game tools by Eve players that it should be an area of discussion.
Perhaps round tables for players about topics they are interested in, logistics, small gang PvP, industry, wormholes, etc. That would create a chance for players with similar playstyles to meet, chat, and lead to in game collaboration. CCP devs could attend these to hear what these specialty groups are talking about.
Pain point: The actual schedule of events was only given out at the last minute and a bit confusing.
Would be nice: Better name tags. Printed with info like in-game name, corp, alliance, etc. for easy badge surfing.

I attended this year and had a blast, due to time of year, I can't attend fanfest, so this is next best thing
Keynote was nice and the fact that some tidbits about Rubicon were held back for EvE Vegas was nice
I personally liked the hotel, the walk to the conference was not bad and 10,000 poker players make that same walk, don't understand the "Walk was so long" I guess people have never been to some of the crappy hotels and small convention halls
The Poker tourny in lieu of binge drinking was awesome, but the logging in to send isk was a PITA to be mild, maybe CCP just giving out a prize(S) could alleviate a lot of that.
I realize sideroom roundtables are kinda limited based on developers or others who attend, but i liked them and would like to see them expanded
Alliance panels would be awesome, but the logistics behind this may be a bit of a reach for EvE Vegas until the size gets a bit bigger
The round robin PvP room was nice, but maybe also give a chance for a bit more organized ladder system intermixed with round robin |

Pre-conference mixer / registration nite mixer.... can never have enough mixers!
The RIO was a great spot, being a local, I can't stand the strip. RIO is close with great access to strip (free bus to Harrahs), but not on the damn strip.
DO NOT feed attendees, only increase costs for tickets, and how many ways can you have chicken at one meeting? There is better and cheaper good VERY close by and cabs are cheap.
Bring the DUST and Valkyrie guys on board, not just the devs, the fans too. |

We've discussed decreasing the number of presentations or adding a day so that there's time for proper food breaks and so that everyone has more time to just hang out without feeling like they're missing something. The PVP room was a huge success we feel and we'll definitely do that again and hopefully we can have more Valkyrie stations so everyone can play it a lot :) CCP Guard | EVE Community Developer |-á@ccp_guard |

I would like more time to interact with the Devs.
Also I have one gripe about the Rio: They charge for internet access. We are having a convention about an internet game, with a wall up between us and the internet? Huh? To be fair because we were part of a convention we all did get free access for one computer. But that meant I had to leave my computer in the room for my wife when I want to the convention.
I mentioned this to some of the CCP employees and got knowing, exasperated looks. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Perhaps this is something that be negotiated into the ticket price, NOT room rate, but ticket price since not everyone needs to stay in a hotel (I'm local). Something like one access code per ticket which allows an unlimited connection through their network. It can be done, just has to be handled by the organizers during negotiations.
The important thing to remember is that these hotels make their money from the rooms, food, drinks, and gambling that convention goers do/use; they don't make much on the actual convention itself aside from banquets (HUGE income for hotels there from the over-priced food and beverages). |

I've attended pretty much every one, and each year has been a blast
I loved the Tournament room, that was fun and would love to see that return.
The reception was awesome even tho i couldn't stay very long, however When it came time to eat, that line was LONNGGGG and took a while to get thru, maybe split next year carving station and self serve.
Also, from talks in the evevegas ingame channel, alot of us would like to see it return to the rio, their convention space was nice.
As far as presentations go, there should be another room to hold smaller more engaged presentations from players or dev's i think that would be pretty awesome.
cant wait to see you all this year o/ |

Better Venue than the Rio!!!
Alliance mates who stayed in the newer tower had OK rooms, but the old tower was crap. 1st room had mold on the shower tiles and second was a flashback to the 70's. I have stayed in much nicer budget inns for 30 bucks a night. Rio restaurants had pretty bad food for really high prices compared to other hotels. Buffet was more like a Golden Corral or something like that.
PVP room was great when the machines worked, they seemed to have issues after the first day. Having a few spares to swap in when the PC crashes would be good. Convention space was nice and the presentations were well done.
As mentioned before, having the agenda out with a little more time to plan out a day would be nice.
I thought the access to devs like CCP Fozzie was a great thing. Keep it up with the hanging out in the pvp room and talking to folks! Swag was nice and the SomerBlink sponsorship was good with the free blink credit for trying and winning the pvp matches.
I'd go to Eve Vegas again, but I would stay somewhere other than the Rio. |

I did not mind the Rio as a venue. PVP room was great. Round tables were great (ones that I went to at least). Party at the top was OK, long line at food not a lot of places to sit. I did not even know there were Gallente girls walking around till I was about to leave, previous year they snapped a pic as you walked in. It is a shame the band was not put on at a better time. I hung around and loved what I heard but it was right before the party and as to not get stuck in a long line people were leaving early, it just did not do them justice. Poker tournament was great for those who would rather not bus around and drink, but a dev or two there would have been awesome. As far as what I would like to see, propaganda table / recruitment spot, a place to buy EVE merchandise (obligatory GÇÿfor plexGÇÖ). An interactive show or two rather than just a power point stack, Eve themed price is right, deal or no deal, GÇÿkaraoke for iskGÇÖ, PvP with interruptions, dress a dev, or vote for best dev. I would get a tattoo if it was there. |

A couple of points to address:
1. Forgot about the 'OLD' tower rooms being crap, and players told me that too when I worked there, lol.
2. As for the tattoos and such, I know there is a well known tattoo artist in the Palms across the street. I think there is also a well known artist in the Hard Rock. (either venue would be awesome, but perhaps not geared to the older attendees)
3. For the event organizer, it is easier to negotiate with event venues/hotels when the group is larger (and/or guaranteed attendance volume), the hotel sees $$$ signs with more bodies wandering through the casino, bars, and restaurants. As this event matures, the locations will improve and more perks given to the group.*

Fanfest beats it hands down, being several times the size, with more presentations from CCP, and more devs in attendance.
However, Eve Vegas is still pretty good. It's one of the biggest player events, for size and duration, and CCP will (if last year is anything to go by) provide a bunch of support for it. Woo! CSM 9! http://fuzzwork.enterprises/ Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

I attended Eve Vegas last year and had an absolute blast! Loved the roundtables, the presentations, the PVP room, everything! I thought the buffet was excellent (although two lines or having the carving station be a separate line is an excellent suggestion). In fact, I thought the food was of generally good to excellent quality and quantity throughout the event.
The swag was particularly awesome, I really wasn't expecting to receive so much :stuff: ... my Apoc model now has a permanent place of honor on the dashboard of my motorhome ;)
I loved the size of it... small enough to feel like we could actually interact with most everyone else attending, but big enough to keep busy and feel interesting and entertaining. Contacts with the devs was particularly excellent, especially in the roundtables where I felt like there enough time for everyone who wanted to say something or share an idea could do so, and also feel like we were really interacting with the devs and being heard.
My suggestions/complaints are minor:
1. The roundtable rooms were quite far away from the main presentation rooms, which made no sense since there were rooms exactly or nearly the same size that were empty and practically next door.
2. On the day after the party, the first presentation started at 10am, and hotel staff pulled the coffee table out of the main presentation room at 11am. One hour of coffee service - especially after an awesome party - is criminal.
3. The party bus's ran out of bottled water after the second or third pub; especially in Vegas's dry air, bottled water while drinking is a priority.
4. It'd be nice to have a sign-up sheet for Valkyrie (assuming you bring it there again this year), that way we can mingle around, join in some of the PVP matches, attend presentations, or go and get something to eat instead of having to stand on line for 2 or 3 hours, missing presentations. Valkyrie was ABSOLUTELY worth the wait in line, but I hated missing two presentations I really wanted to attend, and asking someone to "hold my space" in line for an hour or so just isn't fair to those who did stay in line. You could number the pages, then when you are down to the last group of five on the first page, make an announcement that all people on Page No. 16 (or whatever) please come to PVP room now, where we would then line up as we arrive in response to the announcement (that way you're not holding spots for people who couldn't be bothered to pay attention to the announcement, and those who are paying attention will get in line for that page's signups and not have to wait more than 15 minutes or so).
5. More water in all the rooms! Several roundtables I attended did not have enough cups or water pitchers to last beyond the first 15-20 minutes. Ya, I'm thirsty....
6. Schedule of events/agenda absolutely MUST be made available far, far, far earlier. Releasing the schedule of events four days before the start of the event was just silly... plus, if you release it further in advance, you'll likely increase attendance! (You can always change the schedule around, add things to it, etc., after its initial release, after all!)
I thoroughly enjoyed Eve Vegas last year, and absolutely will be going to it again this year. It went far beyond my expectations, all the Eve Vegas volunteers and CCP devs were simply brilliant, and meeting IRL so many people I've exploded or exploded me was simply sublime.
Hope this helps!

Starting to become slightly discouraged. Forum link on their site is for last year and locked. No Speakers listed yet.
What is going on? is this thing still happening? Last I heard was the DEVs attending and that is not even listed on the eve vegas site.
Definition of blob is more friends than you! Do you play eve or play eve for others? |

Looking forward to this year. For me it's what you take home that leaves the best impression. =)
EDIT: Saw you guys at the 2013 E3 and I got a chance to play Eve Valkyrie. I hope that you guys bring it along again. |
