Okay, so I have to throw a few questions out, because as of tonight, someone is taking a poke at my corporation that I don't know who, when, or why?
1. When a corp declares war on you, what is the duration of that war, assuming that one party is uninterested and the other party is?
2. What are the plausible reasons for this war, assuming we don't know the corporation or its members? Typical PvP griefing? We're pretty small time, as of yet, and they're only slightly older/larger.
3. The options to "declare mutual" and "Surrender" are available - what do they do?
Basically, I'm looking for a quick-yet-thorough guide to these kinds of situations, what my options are, how long my members will have to endure this issue. I can't find any resources for this particular issue myself.
Throw a bone, gimme some help here?

Until the attacker gets bored and stops paying.

They want a good fight and some kills.

Mutual makes the war free for both sides, and surrender opens a trade window with the CEO of the other corp when you're in the same station to negotiate a surrender agreement.

They'll have to endure it until you:
1) Learn to fight back. T1 frigates are cheap and effective. 2) Hire mercs, or get help from experienced players (many will often help you out for free if you name and shame the corp attacking you). 3) Disband the corp. 4) Move across EVE and hope they don't follow.

I see. You have to pay to start a corp war? How much, how often, etc? I had no knowledge of this. Is there ANY documentation anywhere on this subject? _______________________________________________ Never fear going out on a limb; it is there that you will find the fruit. - Friedrick, resident noob poster |

It should be one million ISK a week. AKA pocket change.
And I'm sure it's out there somewhere. Eve isn't actually the most well-documented game in the world.

Heh heh, that is SO cool. I love this game.
Has anyone ever used the surrender option? I've never heard of this before.

Generaly there is no reason to surrender, because they will just declare war again 2 minutes later. ;)

Well, most assuredly we don't plan to make the war free for them. They're picking a fight with a smaller corporation that hasn't done anything to them at all.
They can pay the entire time, and we plan to make it a bit more painful/expensive than they were planning on.
Any PvPers looking to join a small, growing corporation to help defend against some bullies? ;) _______________________________________________ Never fear going out on a limb; it is there that you will find the fruit. - Friedrick, resident noob poster |

Ok...THAT is kinda lame. A surrender should include a moritorium on re-declaring war on the same corporation. Like a month or something where they cant re-declare war on the corp that surrendered.

5) they give up or get bored

Why?
That would give people an incentive to negotiate for surrender. Right now, the surrender option is meaningless.

I think if you are planning on putting the hurt on them you might want to change your corp name.

And you first might try and convo the CEO or director of that corp. Diplomacy can do a lot. and you might be suprised they cancel the war because you politly ask them to. We have many mature players who will listen to reasoning.
Then again. They might just be out in empire war, loot and a good fight and have more wars like this. ----------------------

If I hadn't just joined another corp, I'd join yours just for the name.

What sort of ships/tactics are they employing against you?
Do they present a credible threat of actually 'breaking' your corp? From your question about how long your members will have to 'endure this issue' I'm guessing not...
Outside of the war, do you guys RP or intend to RP at all?

I'm in a similar situation (see the Anti Gyerzen post) But it's kind of my fault. They're just big bullies that think violence solves everything.
